35 years ago today, my world changed forever when I lost my twin brother. It’s hard to believe it has been over three decades, because on some days, the grief still feels just as fresh as it did in 1991.
Our lives have seen so much heartache since then. We also had to say goodbye to our younger brother, and in 2019, our dad passed away too. Out of our original nuclear family of five, it is now just me and Mum left to carry their memories forward.
But even in the emptiest spaces, love has found a way to grow. I am endlessly grateful for my husband and our children, who are all grown up now. They are our bedrock, bringing light, laughter, and comfort to Mum and me when we need it most.
To my twin, my little brother, and my dad: you are never forgotten, always loved, and missed beyond words. Rest in peace.
