Our mission is to make reading free and available to all. At the Global Educational Trust we believe that the ability to read is the cornerstone of educational success and a love of reading will last a life-time yet almost 1 billion people entered the 21st Century unable to read a book or sign their own name. In the UK:
• 1 in 6 adults have issues with liter

• 1 in 3 parents cannot read to their children.
• 3.87 million children do not own a single book
• 4 million children live in poverty

At the Global Educational Trust, we believe that education and literacy skills help individuals lead a happy and successful life, and needless to say, provide the opportunity for people to become leaders, pioneers and visionaries which is ultimately beneficial to us all. We aim to make reading free and available to all by distributing FREE Books into society. As a registered charity we rely on the kindness and generosity of people like you.

Today marks a year since we closed our doors for the last time.
We miss being open more than we can say and we would do anything to be able to reopen as soon as possible, please believe us. Honestly, I think we all expected to be open again by now, but unfortunately it hasn't been as easy as we expected.
A big thank you to Sheila, who- on top of being the best lead volunteer we could ask for- has spent the past year fighting to find us new premises, despite everything (and everyone!) seemingly being against us.
And a huge thank you to the customers who continue asking about us.

How good does this sound?

Anyone else really loving all the adaptations of books lately, both on TV and the big screen? Bridgerton (4 seasons (almost) and counting), Heated Rivalry, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Faraway Tree, Hamnet, The Odyssey....the list goes on. What is everyone else loving or looking forward to?

Stormzy is championing the annual Quick Reads initiative, which will release six short, digestible titles for ‘nonreaders and lapsed readers’ in April for £1 each

Can't believe we've been on Facebook for 6 years now. Thank you to everyone for the continued support. If we could be giving out books right now, we would be 😭 please be assured we (or I should say, Sheila) are trying everything we can to find new premises.

Today I'd love to give a shout out to Men in Sheds at the Kimberworth Park Chislett Centre (there is a group but I can't tag it), who we've just bought this bird table from as a Christmas gift. This is the fourth we've bought and they've all been fantastic. Right now they're trying to sell off more of their items to raise money for wood and for the centre itself. I recommend visiting them if you're in the market for planters, benches etc

(I hope no one minds me making these shout outs, I figure a charity should always support other charities)
