Nuti-B for the win! 💪

Jamie Robinson headed down to a near full syndicate on Friday and initially set up in an open-water swim. Despite spending time watching the lake, there was very little to go on until he spotted fish showing in the shallows.

Come Sunday afternoon, an opportunity opened up and Jamie wasted no time getting set up on the fish. With the rods positioned and the traps set, it didn’t take long for the action to begin.

Just 10 minutes after casting out, one of the rods absolutely pulled up and Jamie was into a fish! 🎣👌

A great example of the importance of staying mobile, watching the water and getting on the fish when the opportunity presents itself.

A real weekend of two halves for Phil Holmes!

Arriving on a busy lake on Friday, Phil dropped into a swim for the night before making a planned move the following morning to where the majority of the fish seemed to be holding up. After finding three promising spots in a swim he hadn’t fished for over two years, he introduced around 30 18mm KLF boilies over each rod and fished bright yellow hookbaits on Ronnie rigs.

At around 2am, a twitchy take resulted in a lovely carp hitting the net after a surprisingly uneventful fight. Huge thanks to Jim Wilkinson for getting out of bed to take the photos!

With the rod repositioned and sleep calling, the next opportunity came just after 7am when the right-hand rod absolutely melted off. Unfortunately, after a short battle the hook pulled, with the point badly turned over, leaving Phil absolutely gutted.

The move was then made to the other end of the lake where the fish were showing heavily. Despite deploying zigs around a w**d bed and witnessing well over 100 shows during the next 12 hours, the fish remained frustratingly difficult to catch, spending most of their time over the thickest w**d.

Although only one fish made it to the bank, it was another enjoyable session and proof that the KLF continues to get bites when opportunities come along.

The night-time bite is well and truly underway at Mollies, and this lake is quickly becoming a firm favourite!

Three fish during the hours of darkness and a brand-new PB made it a session to remember.

🎣 17lb Common – 4am
Caught on a PVA bag packed with Spicy Shrimp boilie crumb, pellets and half boilies injected with Spicy Shrimp Liquid, fished on a 4-inch Slip D bag rig with a Pink Clawberry Wafter.

🎣 “Connect 4” – 25lb 2oz – 4am
Taken on a hand-tied Slip D Multi Rig, armed with a 15mm Spicy Shrimp Hard Ho**er with the top trimmed off and topped with half a Pineapple & N-Butyric Pop-Up.

🎣 “Mossy” – 30lb 2oz – NEW PB! 🏆
A stunning fish that graced the net just after midnight. Falling to exactly the same rig and hookbait combination, this absolute queen of a carp smashed the previous personal best.

Three fish, all under the cover of darkness, with two alarms screaming off at exactly 4am and a midnight PB to top it all off. Nights like this are what carp fishing is all about! 🙌

A short session on the bank paid off nicely for Steve Butler, who managed to bank this stunning 21lb 8oz Golden Common after locating the fish holding up in the reed line at the top end of the pool.

After spotting where the fish were showing, Steve cast his rig into a small clear area around 3ft off the reeds in the left-hand corner bay, placing the bait on a nice presentable spot.

The successful hookbait was a glugged 15mm Spicy Shrimp Hard Ho**er, topped with a 12mm Pineapple & N-Butyric Pop-Up. Around the rig, Steve introduced a light scattering of glugged 15mm Spicy Shrimp boilies, dusted with Green Lipped Mussel Extract, along with chickpeas and sweetcorn.

A great example of finding the fish, keeping things simple, and letting quality bait do the rest!

A few fish from Scott Browne’s latest trips to Jays Syndicate, with some lovely carp finding their way over the net!

The captures included mirrors of 16lb and 22lb, along with a cracking common weighing 22lb 8oz.

All the fish fell to a simple but highly effective approach using small amounts of KLF 18mm boilies, fished both whole and crumbed, alongside the matching KLF Stick Mix. The hookbait of choice was a Pink Nuti-B Wafter, wrapped in KLF Paste for that extra boost of attraction.

Proof once again that you don’t always need lots of bait when you’re fishing with confidence in the right spot.

A busy week on the bank for Lewis Townsend, fitting in 4 nights across two very different venues.

The session started at Farlows, where Lewis managed to bank the absolutely stunning Colne Valley mirror “Cut Tail Lin” at 32lb – a fish that’s on many anglers’ wish lists! 💪🐟

After 24 hours, Lewis made the decision to move on as he couldn’t quite get on the main body of fish. The move proved to be the right one, heading over to Linear Fisheries’ Hardwick Lake, where he added another three carp to 30lb to round off a fantastic few days’ fishing.

A great session overall and one that’s already got him looking forward to the next trip!

My first proper session of 2026 saw me heading down to Bluebell Lakes. Arriving early Sunday morning, I found the complex extremely busy with very few swims available, so I decided to try my luck on Sandmartin.

The first night was quiet with very little happening, but at around 7:30am the following morning the middle rod ripped into life and resulted in a lovely 35lb common hitting the net.

After weighing and photographing the fish, I slipped it back safely. Ian Russell was in the next swim and his cameraman suddenly shouted, “You’ve got a take on the left-hand rod!” I laughed and said it was probably the fish I’d just returned catching the line.

A few seconds later the rod absolutely melted off! After a great battle I landed the fish… and unbelievably it was the same 35lb common I’d just returned moments earlier. It had gone straight back down onto my margin spot and nailed the hookbait again, this time hooked perfectly in the bottom lip!

I’ve never known anything like it in over 40 years of fishing. They must absolutely love JH Baits! 😆

Unfortunately, that was all the action for the rest of the session. The lake really switched off and very few fish were being caught around the complex.

The successful bait approach was a mixture of Nuti-B and Spicy Shrimp, fished alongside plenty of h**p and salmon oil.
