I could look at these all day. The flowers are hitting their peak — just as I’m about to take a much needed break.

Cut early this morning in the cool before the heat set in, and I couldn’t bear to leave anything behind on the field, so I’ve over-picked for my final orders this week. If you’re on the WhatsApp group, expect a message later today.

All the jobs are done and the handover’s complete. Now for a little field-free R&R. The buckets will be back soon.

Koko Loco - you have my heart.

Beautiful at every stage. Even blown like this, perhaps my favourite.

Only in their second year, so there’ll be a lot more of them to come.

Easy to see why they’re a florist’s favourite.

This is the bit of the year I love most.

Forget the heatwaves, the failed crops, the blown blooms and the slog to get here — once the dahlias start popping and the cosmos gets going, there’s nothing quite like it. Cutting and curating buckets is a joy with every crop, but there’s something about these two that gets me, every single season.
