In the same way that I urge customers to use local, independent yarn shops rather than the huge online companies, I also do my best to support the yarn companies who support us.
The UK Hand Knitting is a "not-for-profit organisation founded in 1940, dedicated to supporting, developing and promoting independent bricks and mortar yarn shops in the UK and striving to create a broader awareness of yarn craft."
For indie yarn shops like mine who are members, they run annual events like Yarnstravaganza which is coming up this month, as well as an amazing trade fair in Harrogate, which sadly I couldn't afford to go to this year (hopefully next!!)
The yarn companies who are part of UKHKA are my go-to ones. Obviously the quality of the yarns is good, but they also support us indie shops and the ethos of shopping local. That's why you'll mostly only find Stylecraft Yarns, James C. Brett Rico Design Cygnet Yarns Ltd and Groves at No.3 Royston.
