Yesterday evening I had the absolute pleasure of crocheting along with 150 people in the world’s biggest surviving Victorian glasshouse. Surrounded by over 1500 species of plants from 5 continents (6 of which are extinct in the wild) we started making a bird of paradise plant.

The bird of paradise is a unique design with removable flower stems that slot into the plant or can be displayed seperately.

Hosting large crochet workshops in inspiring spaces is an integral part of TOFT, and are always some of the real highlights of the year (and decades!) for the whole TOFT team.

Lots more photos and video to follow from the workshop itself as I pour a coffee and enjoying looking back at an amazing evening of fantastic company, fun stitches and some brilliant chats about what we all love making. 💚💚💚

Inviting you to join me for the next crochetalong 🌺 🧚 🌹

From the 8th to the 19th of June we’ll be crocheting along together on TOFT’s socials with daily techniques and tips and tricks on personalising Thumbelina or one of her flower fairy friends.

You can follow along with Thumbelina’s pattern from chapter two of the book ‘Fairy Tales: Cottage Stories’ or order a separate flower fairy kit or bundle online to receive wool in your choice of colours and a digital pattern.

Browse new Spring and Summer flower fairy designs from Wisteria, Cherry Blossom, Peony, Buttercup, Poppy, Fuchsia and Sunflower, as well as the best-selling Chicory fairy and Thumbelina’s story kits where you can chose to make as she is born or in her wedding dress.

🌺 We’ll also reveal the next crochetalong running 8-19th June based on the Thumbelina chapter, but get ready for seven new designs that will have your hook fluttering as we fly through all the stitches!

🌱 On Friday the majority of the TOFT team will down at to teach a huge botanical crochet workshop in the Temperate Glass House. We can’t wait to welcome you all there for an incredible evening of amazing company and a brand new tropical project.

Crack open the freezer it’s time for a lolly! ☀️

After a very warm day we’re signing off here at HQ for a long sunny bank holiday weekend and the start of half term for many too.

It feels like a very rare thing for the sun to come out just as the kids are off school and I hope for all those that will have their hands more full than usual next week that you get to make the most of it.

We’ll be hosting one our of biggest crochet workshops in years this time next week in their iconic temperate house. Tickets are still available if you’re free next Friday and you fancy entry to the gardens for the day followed by an evening of tropical botanic inspiration. The forecast is looking superb for a day out in London. Link in stories.
