Tune up services were the order of the day for this father and son duo.

The Pro Bike was first on the stand and it was far from ideal, brake pads were only just making contact with the brake track, this was a nice easy fix making sure the whole pad was being utilised, next up was the brake balance as the v-brakes were very lop sided again nice and easy with the adjustment screws on the side of each caliper. Rear gears were tuned and the front mech straightened up for crisp shifting.

Then the cube went on the stand and immediately a shifting issue became apparent as the gears would climb up to that massive dinner plate of a first gear but would not come down again, a new cable sorted this, brakes were centered and a torque check of all the bolts finished it all off.

A tune up service was booked for this brand new 5 year old bike.

This was purchased online during lockdown and essentially wasn't used.

The bars needed to be rotated 360 degrees as all the cables were twisted back towards the frame.

Cable disc brakes were poorly set up and the gear tune was way out, once this was completed the bike had a much improved feel.

The customer will now bed the brakes in in preparation for a trip to Wales and the odd hill.

I hadn't seen one of the Madones since it's release and now in less than a week I've had the 2nd one on my workstand 😀

This was a nice collection of bikes in for a tune up service (all Di2) and all in great condition.

The Liv is in need of a new chain as it's close to the wear point.

The Argon on the other hand has a new chain but it has a twisted link that you can hear on every revolution.

The trek was Madone was spot on and in tip top shape.

It's the first time I've had a new Madone on the workstand and I have to say this is one good looking bike.

This one is fairly new so it just required a basic service to adjust bearing surfaces and a bit of fine tuning.

The headset on this integrated front end is super smooth with no hose overlap or contact inside the frame.

stripping a bike doesn't take long at all, it's the putting it back together with care and attention to detail that takes time.

Ribble Gran Fondo stripped ready for a rebuild;
Frame will be cleaned
All bearings checked/replaced as necessary
All threads tapped
Brake calipers stripped to component parts
Drivetrain cleaned/new chain to be fitted
Wheels trued/tyres refitted (logos over valves)
Full cable set
New bar tape

Back at it yesterday with a few jobs around the county.

Starting off with a gear tune on the Ribble as the customer noted the chain wasn't staying in 1st gear, adding a bit of cable tension took care of that.

Then a service on a newly purchased 2nd hand Carrera with one humongous quill stem extension. This hadn't been fitted correctly so there was a ridiculous amount of play in the headset, brakes and gears were adjusted and all bolts checked for torque.

Moving on to a regular customer and his BMC, strange noises were reported but I was unable to replicate them. After checking the seatpost and adding fibre grip I checked the saddle clamp to find it way under torque so this was then tightened to spec.

Finishing off the day with the 2 adventure bikes from last week, chains fitted to both a cassette on and a bottom bracket on the other, brake pads had been fitted by the customer.

It's no secret I have a soft spot for the Giant UK TCR having owned 4 so far.

So I love to get one on my workstand, especially this Pro version.

Starting off with a gear cable after the old one had shredded in the shifter, removing the lower panel of the shifter to get access to the broken ni**le.

Once in the gears were tuned and rear mech adjusted to the correct position a tune up service on the bike was completed.

Apart from some rear pads that will be needed soon this bike is ready to ride.
