GCSE results mark a new beginning and the first time our kids can set their own future path.

Prom was a milestone - followed closely by GCSE results tomorrow - both mark the end of a huge chapter in their lives and the first big new beginning.

To all 2026 leavers getting their GCSE results - make your next steps ones that will make you happy.

Things have changed since I was at school - there was no question that I would do A Levels because I was a straight A student. There was then no question I would study law because my careers service told me to be a doctor or a lawyer and I am very very squeamish. I only questioned it after 5 years of practising as a corporate lawyer.

I’m grateful that my kids will never be made to feel they have a predetermined path. I’ll encourage them to travel, to explore their options and to find their path when they’re ready.

They don’t have to know what they want in the end - everything will fall into place eventually.

This is probably going to be one of the biggest questions we get over the next few weeks.

And the answer isn’t necessarily the same for everyone.

Some girls are already choosing their dresses. Others won’t even have started thinking about theirs yet.

Have you booked your sale appointment yet?

Not long to go before the dresses have to make way for new stock.

Then there are no more reductions until June 2027. We’re not just saying that, our boutique is going to be bursting with new dresses very soon.

It’s already pretty full with new stock of bestsellers (which you can of course view if you come to see the sale)

When a girl comes early on in the season, it tends to have a ripple effect.

As long as we do our job right, she'll go and tell her friends and then we get a flurry of bookings.

It's hard for us to say "tell your friends to come here because then we can control the dresses" without sounding salesy.

But the reality is it's true.

It's important to appreciate we can only control what we sell. We can only promise that WE won't sell the same dress to a school twice.

But we can't control what other boutiques are doing. So it is possible that girls can have the same dress, if one came to us, one went to Liverpool, one went to London. We have labels in common and it can conceivably happen.

The perfect scenario - everyone from a school year came to us. There would be a guarantee of no twinning. This is never going to happen. But the next best thing is as many girls as possible come to us, to make the risk of twinning minimal.

So if you come and you enjoy the experience, please do let people know as it helps us as a small family business, but it also helps the girls to have unique dresses on Prom Day.

Introducing some of our Prom 2026 early birds.

These are just a few gorgeous girls who had their dresses sorted before the end of December 2025.

Why does it matter?

Because of our Prom Promise - we only sell each style to each school once. So if you don't want to see a dress and then find someone else already has it, it's better to come sooner rather than later.

That said, we have ordered way too many for 2027 so you are going to be spoilt for choice regardless of when you come 🙈

Four years ago, in the summer of 2022, when Robyn’s was going into Year 11, I would have loved something like this 🤍

If I'm honest, I was the parent who didn't even think about it till April - Robyn didn't mention it much either. Looking back, I wish we'd made more of it and if I'd understood ordering, timescales etc I would have started much earlier.

So our mission now is to share with you what we now know:

When should we start looking?
What should we expect to spend?
How does sizing work?
Will it need altering?
What happens if someone else from school chooses the same dress?

You can Google all of it, of course — but sometimes you just want to talk to someone who actually knows.

We have gone overboard ordering dresses for 2027. So we have to make space for them!

Our one style one school prom promise applies to all our sale dresses as well as our main collection.

Who might want to see our sale dresses before they disappear at the end of August?

Our Prom diary is open but if you’re not ready to think about choosing a dress but just want to equip yourself with some Prom knowledge, we’ve got that covered as well.

We love this transition because there was a lot going on behind the scenes with this one 💕

Behind the video is a mum who put absolutely everything into making her daughter’s prom perfect.

Maizey came to us in late June and we ordered her dress. Rachel and Maizey knew it would only arrive the week of Prom but it was the only dress she wanted 💕

We booked them in to collect on the Wednesday night for Friday prom.

Until Maizey was standing in the boutique in her dress at 8pm she had no idea what had happened just a few hours earlier. Basically a car chase.

The label sent the dress to the boutique in error so after waiting in all day at home I got a text at 3:40 to say we weren’t there 🤯. Immediately I realised what had happened and Robyn and I both grabbed our car keys and went out to hunt down the DPD van. We had to get the dress because Rachel is a self employed beautician and was working all day Thursday - I’d have been mortified if she’d had to cancel clients and lose money. She was coming over from South Wirral after finishing work at 7pm so the dress just had to be collected that night, no other option.

After a few circuits round Ruthin I started heading to Abergele to wait for the driver to return to the depot and left Robyn on the Ruthin loop.

I spotted the van completely by chance. After a chase down Brick Lane I got the box and said “I could hug you but a) I’m not a hugger and b) it would be massively inappropriate.” 📦

When you shop with a local family business you get something you don’t get from a bigger shop. We really care. Because we know how much it matters. Because Robyn had a prom. Because we know what you need from us and it’s way more than a dress. It’s the communication, the service, going the extra mile.

And as a perfect end the story, Maizey won Prom Queen 👸
