SOMETHING QUITE SPECIAL HAPPENED LAST NIGHT...
Ryde Carnival brought the islands carnival season to a close with a brilliant illuminated parade.
It was fantastic to see all the groups, community members and businesses involved, and watching what was happening in the crowds of spectators really made things magical.
Children in absolute awe, whole families out together, Grandma dancing to the samba bands, teens singing along, groups of friends making a night of it.
There is something truly wonderful about bringing hundreds and hundreds people out onto the streets.
And its not just locals. We were stood with people on holiday from Reading, and others from Falmouth.
"This has made our weekend. We can't believe everyone joins in and makes this happen. For free...you just turn up and watch! It's brilliant"
"I'm having a ball. I want to be in it. Busses, floats, children, older people, music, bands, costumes, dancers. It is so lovely".
It's easy to take these kinds of events for granted when they're right on your doorstep. But they are very special, and we must all do what we can to keep them going and growing.
A HUGE WELL DONE to Ryde Carnival and everyone who helped make it happen.
Want to get involved? There's always room for volunteers, sponsors, and of course entries. Why not get your club, business, family, friends, Carnival ready for the 2027 season.
