📢 EXCITING NEWS! 📢

You may soon spot my current shop appearing with local letting agents, so I wanted to let everyone know before the rumours start...

Essence Crystal Boutique is NOT closing!

After 21 wonderful years in my current shop, I've made the exciting decision to move to a larger premises.

The new shop is just two doors away on Union Street, so you'll still be able to find me right where I've always been – just in a bigger space!

This wasn't something I had planned to do this year, and it has all happened rather suddenly. However, the opportunity came up and it was simply too good to pass up.

I'm hoping to be settled into the new shop at the beginning of August and I'll be sharing plenty of updates and behind-the-scenes photos as we get everything ready.

I absolutely love my current shop and this decision hasn't been an easy one, but I'm really excited about what comes next. The extra room will give me more space for crystals, gifts, displays and all the ideas I've been wanting to bring to life.

So if you see my current shop being advertised, please don't panic – Essence Crystal Boutique isn't going anywhere!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last 21 years. I can't wait to show you what's next!

A slightly unusual post today...

Yesterday, someone from above was using what appeared to be a BB gun and shots were fired into my garden where my cats were. The police attended and were informed of the incident.

As a result, I'll be keeping a very close eye on both my garden and my cats today. If you pop into the shop and see a "Back in 2 Minutes" sign, I'll likely be outside checking on them.

As I live and work on the premises, I'm fortunate that I can keep an eye on things, but I wanted to make local pet owners aware and encourage everyone to keep an eye on their animals while out and about.

Hopefully it's a one-off incident and won't happen again, but I'd rather be cautious.

Natural doesn’t mean “perfect” — it means formed by the Earth 🌍✨

One thing that genuinely surprises me is when people pick up a crystal with a beautiful druzy pocket, natural inclusion or internal formation… and ask for a discount because they think it’s “damaged”.

These are NATURAL stones. Every line, cavity, shimmer, pocket and inclusion is part of how the crystal formed underground over millions of years.

Those sparkly little crystal caves?
They’re called druzies or druzy pockets.

Those wispy minerals, cloudy layers and patterns inside the stone?
Natural inclusions.

Those bands, fractures and internal textures?
Growth structures created during formation.

These features are what make crystals unique. In fact, many collectors specifically look FOR these details because no two pieces will ever be identical.

I don’t charge extra for druzy pockets or inclusions — my pricing mostly goes by weight — which means some of the most beautiful sparkly pieces in the shop are actually cheaper simply because they weigh less.

So no… these aren’t “faults” ✨

Honestly this little lineup feels like a fantasy game side quest 😂

The deep forest green tones in the serpentine are gorgeous, with natural swirls and lighter patterns running through the stone that almost look smoky in places.

The dragon has so much personality, the frogs look permanently unbothered, and Anubis is standing there looking powerful and mysterious in the middle of the chaos 👀

The soft olive green tones in these are gorgeous in person, with natural patterns running through the stone that make every carving feel completely unique.

Honestly these look like they belong in a pastel little fairy world 😭

Soft blush pink tones, cloudy patterns, and the cutest tiny carved faces. The hedgehog especially is ridiculously adorable.

Pink Opal is often associated with comfort, calmness, emotional healing, and soft gentle energy — and these carvings completely match that vibe.

The flashes on these are insane in person… electric blue, smoky grey, silver, and little hidden rainbow flashes that pop out when they catch the light.
