Saturday scheming (done by a human, not AI!) 🫡

As promised, after my sister’s comment last week… this time I actually filmed some of the scheming behind the Moodboard.

This one is for a client whose medieval bedroom is already painted in Farrow & Ball White Tie, with Pointing on the ceiling, so there’s no need for wallpaper in the finished scheme. But I couldn’t resist bringing in this grasscloth from World of Wallpaper . It adds such a lovely layer of warmth and texture and is so reasonably priced compared with many of its counterparts. It’s incredibly versatile too, I’m now wondering whether it might have found a home in my new office…

The starting point was the beautiful Spring Meadow May from Sanderson ‘s National Trust Vol II collection. Then came those rusty reds to complement the exposed brick in the room, followed by the ochres, soft greens and blues with texture and trims. I love how all the colours sit together without it feeling too ‘matched’.

And yes, there is a moment where I give the fringe a little stroke, because, well, if you know, you know.

Saturday scheming 🪢

I met my sis in London today for an ongoing project in Shepherds Bush. I showed her this and she replied ‘did ‘AI’ do this?’ I said ‘no’, I purchased the dark wood frame, which I love, and hand picked all the fabrics and trims, for a consistent weekly reveal of my favourite Moodboard from the past 7 days. She suggested, next time, I film myself doing the selecting and scheming, so I will…..

Today, a classic red and blue scheme. I started from the La Maison Pierre Frey fabric because I’ve never found anything else like it. Always so striking and original.

I suppose you could say curtains are in the family…

I followed in my mum’s footsteps, as did my sister, and now I often wonder whether my girls will end up doing the same one day.

They’re still far more interested in pulling curtains than choosing fabrics, but boy do they have aspirations (G wanted to be a king in last year’s Little Walden nativity 😂 and they already own a sports car!)… 🤍

Growing up around interiors definitely shaped my love of fabric, colour and beautifully made soft furnishings, and it’s lovely to think that perhaps a little of that might rub off on them too.

A few of my favourite soft furnishing details and schemes ✨

My favourite colour is yellow, but I always seem to be drawn to blue in interiors. I once read that yellow isn’t considered particularly restful, so perhaps that explains it! Blue, on the other hand, is often associated with calm, stability and confidence.
