Who switched off summer? 😳

On a more serious note, this little bit of rain is more than welcome. Let’s hope the dry ground gets a bit of a soaking, it is very much needed 🤞 🌧️

Brilliant fun in St Ives harbour this evening with the St Ives Raft Race. Super rafts, great atmosphere and only one sinker! I think they made it back in almost one piece 😂

I’m sure there are zillions of eclipse videos…but here is mine. We sat on The Island in St Ives to watch it. The atmosphere was fantastic with so many people there with picnics and drinks. The video doesn’t really do it justice, but the light really dimmed and the very hot day cooled rapidly. We could see the moon crossing the sun through our eclipse glasses but the light and shadows without them was other-wordly. Such a fab experience ☀️ 🌙 🌒

We were ever so lucky today to see a seal behind Smeaton’s Pier in St Ives 😮 🦭 🩵

These little boats are mesmerising just bobbing about in the harbour. St Ives in the sunshine is picture perfect 😊 Happy August everyone ☀️

At the moment, it is only available in digital format, which you can purchase on our website. It gives you instant access, and you get 3 downloads (so you can have it on your computer, phone and tablet).

To read more (sample pages are available on my website) or purchase it, please visit stivesbythesea.co.uk.

After years of writing blog posts all about St Ives, I've finally put everything together in a book!

Packed over 337 pages (yes, I have lots to say!), it is a proper local companion to St Ives that skips the generic glossy hotel lists and tourist traps entirely. Whether you are looking for hidden coves, navigating the beaches with your dog, tracing the nitty-gritty history of the harbour, exploring the town's art scene, or heading out across the wild hills towards Zennor, my book gives you the real story of the place.
