🌟 Saying Goodbye (for Now) from Oh Fudge Sticks 🌟
Hello, lovely people, and Happy 2025! It’s been quiet around here, so I thought I’d pop on and let you all know what’s been going on.
Here’s the short version: I’ve fallen out of love with baking. I’m not sure when it happened, but one day I looked at a batch of fudge and thought, I really can’t face making any more of this. And cookie pies? Don’t even get me started—if I had to decorate one more, I might’ve had a proper meltdown! 🤣 I tried to get the spark back, but it lasted for about a week, and then… well, I was over it again.
On top of that, with the price of ingredients going through the roof (seriously, how is butter more expensive than my entire shopping bill?) and the cost-of-living crisis, it just didn’t feel worth the hours I was putting in. I wasn’t making much on it, but I didn’t want to charge you all an arm and a leg either—because no one should need a second mortgage just for a box of fudge!
Back in September, I decided it was time for a big change. I left my job in a school and went self-employed as an emotional wellbeing practitioner and wrap-around childminder. It’s been full-on ever since—doing courses, building a wellbeing hub, advertising, and having six (absolutely brilliant but totally bonkers) kids in my house at 7:30 in the morning. Honestly, it’s chaos, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Oh Fudge Sticks has been a huge part of my life. It’s helped me through some tough times—grief, Covid, and everything in between. It’s also introduced me to some amazing people, and even now, I get messages saying, “I had fudge the other day, but it wasn’t as good as yours.” That still makes my heart do a little happy dance!
So, it’s time to officially close this chapter. I’m keeping my equipment (because, you know, you never know) and leaving the page up—just in case the urge strikes to whip up some fudge again!
A huge thank you to everyone who supported me over the years, whether you ordered, liked a post, or simply cheered me on. You’ve made this journey unforgettable.
For now, it’s not goodbye, it’s just a “see you later.”
