Fundraising for Books for Children being supported by the Salisbury Women’s Refuge
This year, more than ever, I am aware of how truly lucky I am; I have a roof over my head, a loving family around me and a safe home environment in which my children can thrive.
On top of this, I am also able to put money aside to buy Christmas presents for my family and keep the magic of Christmas alive for my children.
Unfortunately, not everyone is in this position and it is my understanding that the events of 2020 have meant even more families living with domestic abuse, in unsafe circumstances and having really tough decisions to make.
Domestic abuse does not just affect women, but the Salisbury Women’s Refuge supports women and their children locally, helping up to 12 families at a time, who have bravely made the decision to “escape” from the environment they had been subjected to.
"Our mission is to provide a safe haven for women and children who experience domestic abuse and support them in leading an independent life.”
They provide everything these women and children NEED during this time; a safe roof over their heads, support, guidance and hope that there can be a way through this incredibly hard time. They provide and invaluable service and I have seen their work first hand during my time working for the ambulance service.
What I would like to do this Christmas is to provide the innocent children going through these tough times, with something more than what they need; I want to give them something of their own, to make them smile again, to make them feel valued and to keep the magic of Christmas alive. I’d like to donate brand new books, games and activities to the children who may otherwise receive nothing, or second hand donated items.
I will be donating £100 worth of brand new books to this pledge, and hope that with your support, I could raise a further £200 to enable me to donate £300 worth of brand new gifts
2020 has been tough on everyone, in so many ways, and I understand that you may not be able to give as much as you would like to, but anything that you can afford to give would be greatly appreciated by me, by the refuge and most importantly, by the women and children around the Salisbury area affected by domestic abuse
Thank you for reading and for donating, and for any further information, please contact me directly via Facebook messenger or see the Salisbury Women’s Refuge website at https://www.salisburywomensrefuge.co.uk
