Today I did the Saltaire to Bingley Bog walk as part of the Bradford on Foot / Saltaire Festival weekend. 🌿🥾

It was supposed to be a nice little 3.5 mile guided walk… and it was lovely, but some of those hills were definitely NOT little! 😂

We walked from Saltaire through some beautiful countryside, with the walk leaders stopping along the way to tell us about the history, wildlife and places we were passing. We eventually made it to Bingley Bog where we stopped for lunch.

And then, because apparently I hadn’t had enough 🤣, I decided not to get the train back.

I walked from Bingley back to Saltaire along the canal.

Another few miles of walking, but a completely different pace. Much flatter, quieter and just lovely being beside the water.

So what started as a 3.5 mile organised walk turned into a much bigger walking day!

My legs definitely know about it now. 😂

But I’m really proud of myself. A few months ago I wouldn’t have imagined doing this much walking in one day. We are so lucky to have so much beauty on our doorstep.

Slowly getting there. One walk at a time. 🌿

Secondhand September 💚🌱

I thought I’d share one of my favourite secondhand buys.

I found this utterly gorgeous bag in the Sue Ryder shop in Shipley and immediately fell in love with it. 💚 Green is my favourite colour, so I really didn’t stand a chance!

And it came with a matching purse too. 🥰

I’ve always loved buying pre-loved things, from bags and clothes to little treasures, and you really can find some beautiful things in our local charity shops.

Secondhand doesn’t have to mean second best. 🌱💚

♻️ Second Hand September
Did you know Second Hand September was started by Oxfam back in 2019?

The idea was to encourage people to choose secondhand rather than buying new, and to think a bit more about the impact of fast fashion. (Oxfam GB)

And I’m definitely someone who doesn’t need much convincing 😂

I’ve always bought pre-loved things. Bags, clothes, books, home stuff… I’ve found some absolute gems over the years.

We’re also pretty lucky around here. Shipley, Ilkley and Harrogate have some brilliant charity shops. (Harrogate If you know, you know 👀😂)

I love having a rummage, finding something a bit different, getting a bargain and giving something another life.

But I also think we need to break some of the stigma around buying secondhand. It doesn’t mean you can’t afford new.

It doesn’t mean it’s old and tatty.

And sometimes you find something much nicer than anything you’d have bought new.

So this September I’m going to share some of my pre-loved finds with you — some recent buys, some old favourites and probably a few things that make you wonder what I was thinking 😂

Let’s break the cycle of always thinking new = better.

Because sometimes the best stuff has already had a life. 💚
Who else loves a good charity shop rummage👀?

🐝🍯 IT’S HERE! 🍯🐝

Our Norwood House Honey is ready! 🌼

After a whole season of busy bees, hive checks, sunshine, flowers and lots of patience… we finally have jars of golden local honey ready to go. 🥹🍯

And yes… we’re opening the pop-up shop! 🤣

Coming very soon — watch this space for dates and details.

Buying local honey means supporting local beekeepers and the work that goes into caring for our bees, while helping us celebrate the incredible little pollinators that make so much of our natural world possible. 🐝🌿

Who wants a jar? 👀🍯

We are lucky to have the Dales on our doorstep. Took a trip to Fountains Abbey a beautiful setting every-time I visit I’m reminded of how beautiful it is. Seeing the deer was magical. I hope you enjoy the photos.

There can be so much pressure to make summer feel special, the six week holidays seem endless.
Days out.
Adventures.
Keeping everyone entertained.
Making memories.
But sometimes, summer happens right in your own garden.
Our plum tree was full of fruit this year.
The kids picked the plums, filled little fruit bags, and took them to family and friends.
We also went out picking raspberries and blackberries, fingers stained red and purple, wandering slowly along hedgerows and noticing how much grows quietly all around us.
No big day out.
No expensive activity.
No carefully planned memory.
Just fruit trees, hedgerows, sticky fingers, a few fruit bags — and something lovely to share.
Maybe we don’t need to make every day of the summer holidays special.
Maybe we can just notice the little things that already are.
There is beauty in the ordinary days too. 🌿

On Sunday I was out and about with the family. I took my daughter’s rather sparkly water bottle into a café and asked if they could refill it, if I’m honest I got a bit of a bewildered look 🤣

To be it felt completely normal.

A few years ago, refill stations, reusable bottles and reducing single-use plastic were a big part of environmental conversations. There were campaigns, maps and window stickers encouraging people to refill rather than buy another bottle.

Now, I hope many of us simply carry a bottle and top it up when we’re out.

Sometimes environmental progress doesn’t need to be dramatic . Sometimes it looks like small actions becoming everyday habits.

It made me wonder…

What sustainable change have you made that now feels completely normal?

🌿 Small changes can become part of daily life.
💧 One refill at a time.

The honey harvest has begun at Norwood House. 🍯🐝

After months of the bees’ incredible work, it’s time to carefully harvest some of their surplus honey. Every jar is a reminder of the thousands of tiny journeys these remarkable pollinators make each day.
