Good Morning. Unfortunately, do to a quite shocking experience with a courier delivering a planter, we no longer able to provide a mail order service for these.The ones we are preparing for delivery will be the last and will be sent next day on an alterative service.

For collection , we currently have 60cm and 80cm red,blue and varnished available. 10 in total, that we will sell from our house until they have all gone. We will review the situation again in the new year. We can do simple customisations on these.

We like to thank everyone who have bought them over the years

Coble Planters: 2027 , Orders in 2026 & Egg Boxes!

Good Morning from Staithes! We'll take those in reverse order!

Egg Boxes. Thankyou to everyone thats been keeping Egg Boxes and trays for us. We have more than enough now so please recycle in the normal way! We are always after bubblewrap and foam packing pices for our toys and models!

Orders in 2026 : The last day of ordering this year will be 30th November to ensure a Christmas delivery.

2027: Whilst we will be taking orders orders after 30th November, We wont be dispatching anything until 1st March 2027 in time for the spring

NOTE: Apart from any orders we receive over the winter months, there is a good chance and for a number of reasons, that 2026 will be our last year of supllying these lovely planters. No decision has been made yet so we'll see. But if you are one of those numerous people that have told us they must order one, this year would be a good time to do it!

One of the reasons we are considering this is facebook used to be a big source of orders for us, both through our page and Staithes Facebook. These days FB limits the number of people that get to see our posts and requires us to pay at least £20 to "boost" them which is completely uneconomical. These days we rely on search engines and passing trade for orders.

Heres a few pictures that might invoke some childhood memories! We have recently had an influx of 1960's Century 21 Gerry Anderson toys. So Thunderbird 1,2,3 & 4. Plus a Captain Scarlet Angel Inteceptor and a very rare unplayed with Joes Car

Amazingly, the Thunderbird 4 is new in its box. We bought some AA to type C battery convertors and it works!

Also the Scalextric set we all wanted but could never afford! James Bond sets have been fetch up to £2000 recently. This one is a replica example (Box cars and green mound).As you can see, its (still) a work in progress. If you look at the black "Baddie" car, the figures need to be painted and the fendors attached. We'll get there eventually!

What a lovely day!

Like many businesses using Facebook we are of the opinion that our posts are being surpressed now. Our sales of planters via Facebook has plummeted of late with sales mostly coming from the front door and our website. We are of the view that Facebook wants us to "boost" our posts (ie pay them), which to be fair is not unreasonable but unecomomical for us SO IF YOU SEE THIS GIVE US A LIKE REGARDLESS AS IT WILL GIVE US AN IDEA IF SURPRESSION IS HAPPENING. If you have any suggestions about using other social media for our planters please let us know. We know what they are but are after insight into their suitability.

So as a reminder we now have a full set of our standard 60cm and 80cm planters in red, blue and varnished (12 in total) and customisation a speciality for know extra charge £10 delivery. Details in the photos

Even if your not interested in models like the (ex) Saturday Boy is, the workmanship in this replica Basset Lowke Princess is stunning. It even has a steam generator! It was a special edition with only 100 made (as you can see on the plaque in the cab. Looks rather smart in my office!

Greetings from a sunny Staithes! We have had a bit of a run on our planters over the last couple of days and now have a limited supply available until after 20th May. We have these available:

We can also change the Staithes writing in the centre for something customised at no extra charge (in block capitals)

We have finally gotten around to sorting out our lovely postcards that we used to sell in Chapel Yard Stores

This full set of what we have left brings you photographs from local amateur photographers Alastair Smith, Lee Pearce, Fran Fitch & Jonny Lawson. Chris and Dawn (the shop proprietors ) decided to join in and there’s 4 from us when we decided to see who could sell the most. Dawns picture looking down over Staithes in the sunshine won hands down and proved very popular. We have a very limited supply of this one left now.

There are also 2 vintage reproduction cards from the late (and great) W***y Wright’s collection featuring Staithes Beck and the iconic Staithes viaduct. These cards were digitally cleaned up before we had them manufactured

I was sat in bed with a coffee but these guys were up on the viewing point. Hopefully they got some cracking picture's!

I'm sure you have noticed that CYS doesn't post much these days. There are a number of reasons for that along with the fact we sell vintage toys and coble boat planters from home these days and I don't think our followers are particularly interested in trains but I maybe wrong!

The biggest problem we have is with Facebook itself

Firstly, meta serve us up a diet of curated jibberish forcing you to scroll down trying to find something relevant amongst all the adverts. This is considerably worse on my (Chris ) personal feed and with constant notifications of complete irrelevance. They started sending notifications that your friend Mr X's friend Mr Y had wished them happy birthday. I mean what? Why? So I switched off notifications entirely from Facebook causing the app to constantly tell me to switch them back on. All that did was make me remove Facebook from my phone entirely. I check Facebook once a day now. No notifications. It's bliss

Secondly, given we run a business was that wise? The reality of using Facebook for business is once they have clocked you are selling stuff your posts often get surpressed so few people see them. We know this because we get notifications constantly about paying them to boost our posts, little reaction from people and it's not cheap and completely cost ineffective.

Fortunately we have a busy website these days and our search engine results mean we get lots of visitors to the site. It's only 10.30am and we have already had 58 visitors! Yesterday we had 250. I mention this because it makes us smile as our little shop of baked beans and J Cloths (the latter of which I now have a lifetimes supply) would never have coped!

Happy Easter to everyone. Nothing ever stays the same! We have plenty of planters and trains 🚂 🛥️
