A large antique silk folding hand fan. The antique hand fan was made circa 1860s or 1870s possibly in British India. The fan is brown and cream silk on a backing of red cotton. The Victorian fan has an olive wood frame and struts. The fan silk is decorated with tinted lithography and features children playing Battledore and Shuttlecock the forerunner of Badminton. The children are outlined with metallic embroidery in chain stitch. I can’t find anything quite like it and think it is quite unusual. Generally good condition for age.
