💛 Pick Your Own Flowers Fundraiser 💛

As we approach the end of the flower season I've decided to do things a little differently.

This Sunday and next (the 18th and 25th) all proceeds of PYO will go to in memory of my wonderful Dad who died in October 2014. These will be the last 2 days of PYO for 2026.

Instead of the usual jam jars, mason jars and buckets, bring your favourite vase, fill it with beautiful blooms and make a donation of any size to Guts UK.

I'll be open from 10am both days. There's no need to book, just turn up. As normal, it will run as an honesty stand. Pop any cash in the box or I'll put up a QR code to the Just Giving page. The link is also at the bottom of this post. If you can't make it but would still like to donate to a wonderful cause, please do.

Guts UK deals with all digestive conditions and are the closest linked charity to how my Dad died. My husband also lost his Aunt Rose more recently to Oesophageal Cancer another of the many conditions researched and supported by the charity.

Please take the field as you find it. Approaching the end of the season things are starting to look a bit straggly and tired (much like myself) but there are still so many beautiful flowers.

Any donations will be so gratefully received and it'll be wonderful to end the season giving back to a cause that means so much to me and many families across the UK.

Pick Your Own is only open on Sunday this week.

Come anytime from 10am to sunset.

There are still lots of beautiful blooms in the field but the temperatures are definitely dropping now so I can't guarantee they'll be here too much longer.

For anyone who has pre-ordered bulb lasagnes, they'll be ready for pick up from Monday onwards. There are still a handful left on the website if you'd like to order.

I'm taking a short break for the next few days but will be back online on Sunday.

Yesterday morning was just too pretty not to get a full time space on the grid. The low Autumn light is just too good.

The flowers are all working their little socks off, pumping out bloom after bloom, add in the birds singing and a beautiful sunrise and it's not far from heaven on Earth.

It's definitely Autumn though, the heavy dews, sculptural seed heads and phenomenal spider webs are pretty incredible. Just crossing my fingers the first frost doesn't arrive too soon.

If you're still planning a visit this year come soon. I'm only open on Sunday this week or by appointment. As long as there's not been a frost I'll be open from the 16-18th too.

The flower field is blooming away and will be open for Pick Your Own Friday - Sunday from 10am till dusk.

The honesty stand will be out and you can help yourselves if I'm not around, paying by cash or card. Choose to fill a jam jar £10, mason jar £20 or bucket full of flowers £35. There are snips, a sheet of helpful picking tips and a scavenger hunt for children. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

You can also order flowers via the website to collect on Friday or Saturday. Choose from a bunch of 10 dahlias £15, wrap of 25 mixed stems £25 or bucket of 50 mixed stems £50 to arrange at home.

Slug resistant, beautiful and with such a will to survive and reproduce that even the most neglectful gardener couldn't kill her, Sedum is an absolute hero!

I couldn't believe my eyes when even the dried up stems had mini plants growing out of them 👀

I knew she was easy to propagate and took lots of cuttings in the spring but I didn't realise just how little effort it would take!

Let me know if you try this too...I'm off to pot my little babies up.

Forget peeling potatoes, it's time to peel your Honesty pods!

I have sown and grown Honesty on the flower farm specifically waiting for this moment. Although she has beautifully delicate purple or white flowers, what I really want from her is the iridescent sheen from her seed pods.

The perfect ingredient for Autumn and Winter wreaths, I'm getting a head starting on the peeling ahead of my first Autumn wreath workshop this weekend.

I find her a little tricky to germinate sometimes but she grows up and down the country, self seeding freely and often spotted in roadside verges making her a prime candidate for foraging! If you spot some, you've got the dried flower jackpot!

Carefully peel off the outer shell on each side and you'll uncover pearly perfection. (Don't forget to save the seeds that drop out as you go and you can have a go at growing your own too)
