I have finally finished this one, it’s a Left handed 24” scale for my son. The body is made of slow growth pine which are offcuts from a friend of mine who makes fabulous furniture (check out ) which was then burnt and stained.

The neck is an offcut from a fire door frame that was heading for the bin, it is great rift sawn timber (red miranti I think?).

For the first time I used my laser to cut the fretboard including the Dinosaur claw mark 12th fret inlay. That was then filled with a ruby red glitter grain filler () and thick CA glue (gluboost).

The pickups are from a HH MIM Strat and the rest of the hardware and electronics are from axetec.co.uk

Dear Folks of the internet, I can’t make a choice so would love some opinions (I know, brave or stupid?) This is my latest build and I don’t know what colour to go for. I’m planning on a glitter grain fill and then colour over the top, these are the ones I’ve tested so what do we like? All these finishes are from

I’ve been busy in Sound World for the last few months but back in the workshop now. Had to make some spool clamps for this repair, structural repair is now complete so on to the cosmetic tidy up next.

Today (12th Aug) I did something very stupid and left this Guitar on a train at Finsbury Park, London heading towards Horsham. It was in a black Line 6 gig bag. If any of you fantastic people following here are in the UK and come across it please let me know, I miss it already!

It's been over a year now but finally getting back to building from scratch. This time it's a pair of offsets, one left handed, short scale for my son and one right handed 25.5" for sale. As these are my own take on the design I'm making the templates as well. I'm also trying out using my laser to cut the fretboards, ensuring perfectly acutely fretslots.

This guitar is my "Triggers broom!" It was the first kit guitar I ever put together, it had the neck replaced with the first one I ever built from scratch and the pickups replaced with Iron Gear Tesla Sharks and a Jimi Page wiring system. The only bits left were the body wood and a dodgy black scratch plate. Well finally thanks to Tim over at .ink it now has a fantastic custom plate. This guitar now looks as good as it plays and sounds!

I haven't posted in a while after taking q little break for Christmas and New Year. I started this year off with a little work on my own instruments including installing these fantastic True Grit Bootcamp humbuckers into my Les Paul which now really sings! I followed that up with working on this fantastic Alembic Bass. My client purchased this while on tour in Australia many years ago where it had been sorely neglected. The laquer had misted so the wood couldn't really be seen, all the metal work was badly tarnished and the electronics were shot. Over the years he has had it resprayed to factory finish, all the electronics were rebuilt with NOS parts and I have now added the finishing touch with a little fretwork so it now plays as good as it looks!

The Bitsa T is finally finished! This has been a real labour of love over 2 years and countless hours to get this right but here it is and it's a beauty! The back of the body is made from timber that spent of 100 years as a piano, which actually belong to my friends Grandma for a lot of her 98 year life. The front is made from a centre block of the piano wood (Poplar) which has been veneered and then surrounded by a patchwork of solid timbers. When I first started this patchwork I had to hand sand all the blocks square with my trusty leveling beam which took some time! I sped things up somewhat with an belt sander but it still took some time! The neck is a 3 piece maple, walnut, maple laminate with silver maple stringers. It's carved with a medium thickness C at the bone nut down to a slight soft V and the fret board has a 10" radius. It has a dual action truss rod, aluminium and brass dots, copper 12th fret inlay and an oil and wax finish. Hardware is Grover cam locking tuners, an ashtray bridge with staggered saddles and an electro socket. Electronics are Iron Gear Steel Twin II pickups offering a standard and hot output sound from the push of the tone pot, 4 way switch, CTS volume pot and Orange drop tone cap in a shielded cavity. The k***s are snakewood with a hand made ebony and silver maple switch tip. This is now looking for a new home to be played as it should be ( fancy a new guitar while your back here on tour!)

This week I have had the pleasure of this beauty! This belongs to Will from and just came for a little check over. It's a Manchester made Gorden Smith which sounds, looks and plays fantastically. Nothing fancy here just well made, solid and spot on for the job. Ready to rock again.

A year ago I made this LP for myself in the workshop but as I was only there for a five day (37.5 hours) course I had to skip out on a 12th fret inlay to finish in time. This week I finally plucked up the courage to cut into the fretboard and add this in. Really happy with the end result but now I need a drink!
