Air of 1920s French Oak Bedside Tables – Normandy Barn Find

A striking pair of solid oak French bedside cupboards dating from the 1920s, sourced from a rural barn estate in Normandy.

Exceptionally heavy and well-made, each cabinet has a useful top drawer above a shelved cupboard, with carved scrolling decoration, fluted sides and handsome antique brass fittings. The later high-gloss black finish has been carefully removed and replaced with a softly distressed matte-black surface, allowing areas of the warm oak and historic patina to show through.

Their dark, sculptural appearance works beautifully with gilt-framed paintings, vintage table lamps, rich textiles and crisp white linen. Ideal as bedside tables, compact side cabinets or statement storage pieces in a bedroom, drawing room or boutique interior.
