Welcome to Lavender Fields, at Hartley Park Farm, in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. Fourth generation farmers, we value our local landscape and having introduced English lavender to the farm in 1999, our fields are now a local landmark. Set against the ancient trees of the Selborne Hanger our vibrant field of English lavender perfectly compliment the dense, dark woodland. Two of our varie

ties, Folgate and Phenomenal are cut for bunching. Folgate has a strong Blue colour but are short-stemmed whereas Phenomenal has a delicate blue colour and long elegant stems. We harvest our lavender during July and August but it does depend very much on the weather! The less sunshine we have, the later the harvest! Lavender is normally harvested early morning, to ensure the highest yield of oil. It is immediately taken to be distilled, as it starts to lose oil from the moment it is harvested. Based on our own high quality essential lavender and rosemary oils, we have developed a range of light, delicately perfumed hand, body and home fragrance products. Our aim is to capture and bring to you the essence of our lavender field! All of our products are made in England. Why not take a trip out into the beautiful Hampshire countryside and visit us at our Lavender Shop on the farm? https://www.thelavenderfields.co.uk/contactus

That way you could try all of our delicately fragranced products for yourself!

Why you may ask?

We were doing our usual watering the afternoon and went to use our hose only to discover that our fitting had disappeared. It was there this morning but had vanished by lunchtime.

Don't you hate it when the little things go missing? We were so perplexed that we checked our camera, only to discover that an older gentleman had taken a fancy to it. He clearly fell in love with it, looking at it over and over again. Carefully checking the coast was clear before unscrewing it and popping it into this pocket.

It is a low value item, so we are less worried by the cost, but as you can imagine it is frustrating, hunting around for another, that you know you have but can't remember where you last saw it.

Had he only asked we would gratefully have leant him one.

It did however have a positive effect on staff morale, we certainly all found it amusing!

We are open for one more week, hopefully everything is still there when we finish 🤣

Good news!

We have decided to open the fields for one more week. We have looked at the lavender and had some lovely feedback today with suggestions to keep the fields open longer.

As such you will be welcome to visit the fields up until 4pm on the 16th August. For the last week we will be reducing the entry admission to £4 for adults (13 years and older) and £2.00 for children aged 2-12 years. Don't worry there is still a free bug hunting kit for all paying children.

Please note, early flowering lavenders have been harvested, but there is plenty of the later flowering varieties still looking good. The wildflowers are showing a little colour but due to the heat have largely finished flowering.

Don't miss your chance and pop over and pay us a visit.

Here are some photos of the little field below.

We very much welcome feedback from our visitors, this allows us to continue to improve our facilities and services.

Unfortunately though every year we encounter a small number who feel they should get a freebie. We strive to keep the field entry as low as possible and as far as we know we have the lowest entry in the south of England if not the whole of the UK. We are far from a large commercial lavender farm and very much enjoy being on the ground and meeting our visitors.

The frustration is, what this review doesn't point out is that we have tables inside the shop that customers are welcome to use, providing a free view of the fields in addition to the tables at the front of the shop, so there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the fields if you do not wish to pay the entrance admission.

Like most of the other lavender farms we know, without paying field visitors we would be unable to continue to farm the lavender.

Reviews like this are frustrating, but sadly an inevitable part of running an attraction.

On a positive note we have loved welcoming so many happy people, so if you have visited us this year we would very much welcome a google review :)

We are still open to visit, admission is £6 for adult 13 years + and £2.50 for children 2-12 years (including a free bug hunt kit)

As you may have seen from our previous posts, our earlier varieties of lavender have now been harvested. Our later varieties are still looking amazing and there’s still lots of colour to enjoy in the fields.

We are the fourth generation to farm here at Hartley Park Farm; and here we are in the distillery, getting the fifth generation ready (she took to it like a duck to water!) 💜

All early varieties have now been distilled into our pure lavender oil - which will be left to mature for at least a year before being either hand-bottled, labelled and placed on our shelves for our customers to purchase - or will be used to produce the many products we have available in our shop.

With the hot weather we have been having, we may have to cut our season short - but we will keep our socials and our website updated on when we anticipate the fields will close for this season. The shop and coffee shop will remain open until Christmas (days/times TBC)

We hope to welcome you to our lovely lavender fields before the season ends for another year! 💜

Some pictures from earlier. The colour in our later flowering varieties is still looking great.

Unfortunately the hot weather has meant our wild flowers have peaked earlier than usual along with our early flowering lavenders, which we are starting to harvest.

Still plenty to see here and it is wonderful to get such great feedback from our visitors
