Time to sign off for the moment so wishing you a lovely and happy christmas and a cracking 2020, and see you next year! But while we're here, the thing about Settle Victoria Hall is that you never know who you might bump into. So having heard about our day via the wonders of social media, who should pop along but Professor Tim Wilson, who some of you may know from Channel 4's The Circle, and his mate Stew Simpson. Both great chaps who as you can see fit in with our theme brilliantly. Anyways, long story short and all that, they then hung, around after we'd gone to the pub, to make a video. So here it is, you'll recognise the stage at Viccy Hall, our photobooth backdrop, and a brill cameo from our manager Ann Harding! Great stuff Ann!

Well, what a great day last sunday. Won't thank everyone individually, because, well you know..... however, BIG THANKS to everyone who helped us set up on saturday, and on the day - the ladies in the cafe, people who helped with wreath making, tombola and raffle people (in the doorway nearest the cold, brrr, so great job), Viccy Hall Staff, musicians (and Frank Jackson would specifically like to say big thanks to Santa and Mrs Claus for impromptu backing vocals, fantastic stuff), photography team (there were a few of them), the Friends of Settle Victoria Hall both for helping AND for giving us their date for this do, all the other volunteers, Santa and Mrs Claus for entertaining children (and a few adults), traders/stall holders for paying good money to come and for making it such a great and varied market and of course, all you punters who came along in the wind and rain, spent your hard earned cash, ate the great food, made stuff, sang along and made it such a success. See you next year!!!!

Two sleeps to go - not including the odd afternoon nap of course (not that afternoon naps are odd you understand) and then we are ON for our Victorian Christmas Fayre. 10am - 6pm Settle Victoria Hall, Sunday 8th December - so don't worry about the weather, we are inside. Lots of stalls selling lots of goodies, plus tombola, home made cakes for sale, cafe with special christmas menu, the bar is open from about noon, wreath making, sweet making for the kids (or even big kids with a sweet tooth), photobooth - come and dress up, we have clothes. Music, live and kicking, as it were - Batty Moss Band, Settle Voices and the final addition to the lineup, all the way from Studfold the mighty ('call me') Frank Jackson (he of the Studfold Bats fame - though the Bats are on hiatus until spring). If you're still no wiser, think of Donny and Marie Osmond, not literally, they won't be here, but as they sang, he's a little bit country, he's a little bit rock and roll. Victorian? Well the hat in the picture is his so good enough for us. See you there!!!!!

Just a week to go, and this time we're asking for help. We will be having a Bottle Tombola stall next sunday and so if anybody would be kind enough to donate a bottle of something or other for this, then we will be most grateful. Please drop donations into Victoria Hall Box Office. If you want we will will have a list of donors (including businesses) on display on the stall on the day - so leave your details with your donation. In advance.... Thank you very much (thank you very much etc, as the song goes). See you next week!

Between 12:30 and 2pm we have "Batty Moss Band" providing traditional Christmas music. Batty Moss Band is a group of local folk musicians who met through pub sessions and formed a ceilidh band. The band love to play together wherever they can, mostly in pubs to entertain themselves and hopefully the punters too.
The line-up includes button accordian, concertina, mandolin, melodeon, recorders, whistles, boudran, bass guitar and banjo, with Kevin McSherry on guitar, who also sings.
With decades of experience between them, they provide lively, traditional dance music mostly from Britain & Ireland and come complete with caller Mike Benson. Check out www.battymoss.co.uk
For the curious – Batty Moss is the original name of the Ribblehead Viaduct location. The band all live within 10 miles of this iconic structure.
