Few things in your bathroom can have a 300-year history.

In the Wakayama region of Japan, purifying Binchotan charcoal has been produced for over three centuries. It’s considered the finest charcoal in the world — and it is woven directly into this wash cloth.

Binchotan's uniquely dense structure adsorbs odour and bacteria with every use. Perfect for summer!

As it works across your skin, it draws out impurities — the same way Binchotan has been used to purify water in Japan for centuries. Better yet, when you wash the cloth, it simply resets. It doesn't deteriorate. It just keeps working.

Soft, gentle on the skin, and made in Japan from cotton and Binchotan-infused rayon — this is the kind of simple luxury that makes you rethink your bathroom essentials.

Available now at NiMi Projects, in store and online.

Another little preview of what's coming with us to Yokimono in Dalston this weekend.

We've been pulling together our edit of Japanese homeware and design pieces for Yokimono's 2026 Summer Market — some old favourites, popular restock, items usually available in-store only, and a few new additions — all chosen because we genuinely love them!

There's something special about seeing Japanese design in person — the textures, the fine details, the craftsmanship. That's half the joy of doing fairs like this.

We love to show things, explain the minutiae you can't see online and, of course, chat with you about Japan.

Knives made to last a lifetime.
In Sevenoaks for just one day. Tomorrow!

Kataba Japanese Culinary Knives are coming to NiMi Projects — and it's the kind of event worth leaving the house for.

See the craftsmanship of a Gyuto multipurpose blade. Feel the weight of a Nakiri vegetable knife in the hand. Ask the Kataba team everything you've ever wanted to know — they've been living and breathing Japanese kitchen knives for over a decade.

These are artisanal objects — the type of things you need to see and handle to truly appreciate their quality.
Tomorrow, you can.

And if you're still searching for something truly special gourmet gift for Father's Day on Sunday — your answer might just be waiting for you on a table in Sevenoaks.

Father's Day is coming — 21st of June. Just 12 days to find something worthy of a great dad.

The hardest gifts to find are for dads who say they need nothing, want little, and would genuinely rather you didn't fuss. And yet ... you can't help yourself.

We think good design is the answer — objects made with the kind of craft and conviction that speaks without explaining itself. A simple leather tray carefully pressed by hand from upcycled offcuts, a maekake apron rooted in over a century of Japanese textile tradition. Things that carry the mark of the hands that made them. Things that last and become more and more personal as they patina, weather and change in character with use.

Swipe to find something worth giving — link in bio to see our full Father's Day collection.

Don't forget, we also offer complimentary gift wrapping, so it's ready to give on the special day!

Curious about how Father's Day evolved in Japan? Our journal piece "Father's Day In Japan: From Casual Wear To Celebration" explores how fashion led to father awards. Find the link to our Journal in bio.

Something a little different for us this one — but we can't wait!

This Saturday, NiMi Projects will be at the Hanabi Japanese Summer Festival .festival in Brighton for the very first time.

We love any opportunity to bring Japanese design out into the world and into the hands of people who appreciate it — and festivals dedicated to Japanese culture are exactly where we find the best of you!

We're still choosing which pieces to pack — favourite homeware, best sellers, and objects you won't find anywhere else on the high street.

Come and find us, see everything up close, and ask us anything. We love talking about the stories behind the things we bring.

Pre-sale tickets have sold out — but walk-ins are welcome!

We’re ready to reveal our June popup guest — and could not be more thrilled!

On Saturday 20th June, Kataba Japanese Culinary Knives will be joining us at NiMi Projects.

Based in the heart of Covent Garden, Kataba has spent more than a decade helping chefs, home cooks, and culinary enthusiasts discover beautifully made Japanese kitchen knives and tools.

For one day only, they’ll be bringing a handpicked selection of kitchen essentials to Sevenoaks — including Gyuto chef’s knives, Santoku, Nakiri and vegetable knives, alongside sharpening stone sets.

More than anything, this is a great opportunity to see these objects in person, speak directly with the team, and find something suited to your own cooking style.

And with Father’s Day falling the very next day, the timing could not be better for a thoughtful gift for someone who loves to cook.

Save the date!
