Hear what Lee has to say.
As we head into a third season of supporting Stocksbridge Park Steels FC, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on why both GrafiX and now Steel Vault are proud to continue backing this incredible football club.
Our first season as sponsors in 2024-25 was unforgettable. Not only was it GrafiX’s debut year supporting the Steels, but it ended in one of the greatest moments the club has seen in recent years, with promotion to the Northern Premier League through the play-offs. The atmosphere, the celebrations, and the togetherness around the club were something special to be part of.
While the 2025-26 season ultimately ended in disappointment with relegation back to the East Division, I don’t think anyone can question the spirit and commitment shown by the lads all season long. There were a number of off-field issues that undoubtedly unsettled squad dynamics at times, but the players continued to battle right until the very end and deserve huge credit for that.
Truthfully, before 2024 I hadn’t really followed the Steels closely. Fast forward two years and this football club has completely taken hold of me. The supporters are absolutely brilliant — home and away they back the team relentlessly and truly are a proper barmy army. (Although I still think we can get a few more season ticket holders through the gate!)
More than anything though, what has amazed me most is the dedication shown by the volunteers behind the scenes. The amount of work that goes into keeping this club running day in and day out is astounding to witness. Not just Chairman Graham and Vice-Chairman Roger, but the entire team of volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
I also have to give a special mention to Adam and his ever-reliable YouTube commentary. Whether I’ve been working away or unable to travel, being able to follow the team through his coverage has been brilliant and is another example of the effort people put in behind the scenes for this football club.
As we now enter and celebrate the club’s 40th anniversary year, we also remember two key figures we sadly lost this season, Allen Bethel and Vicki Woodcock. Their contribution and presence around the club will never be forgotten.
I genuinely believe this club belongs back in the Northern Premier League — and beyond — and I hope this next chapter is the start of another successful journey forward.
For all of these reasons, I’m delighted that Steel Vault (www.steelvault.co.uk) will continue as front-of-shirt sponsor for the upcoming season. I’ll also be working closely alongside Roger and Graham to help bring new sponsorship opportunities and money-making initiatives into the club to help push the Steels to that next level.
And finally… keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming announcement where supporters will be able to get their hands on some incredible limited-edition 40th anniversary merchandise.
Up The Steels!
