🍻 A THORNBRIDGE RESTOCK, AND A SPECIAL ONE FOR THE JAIPUR FANS

We’ve had a big drop from Thornbridge with a proper spread of styles, from the flagship names to a rare version of a classic that’s worth explaining.

The standout is Jaipur on the Union. This isn’t just a different label, it’s brewed using Thornbridge’s restored Burton Union set, a historic wood barrel fermentation system dating back to the 1800s that they recommissioned in 2024 with help from Brooklyn Brewery and kit donated by Marston’s. It’s the same Jaipur recipe, but the old-school fermentation process gives it its own character. Sat right next to the standard bottle conditioned Jaipur, so you can compare the two side by side.

Cocoa Wonderland, 6.8% – Chocolate Porter, contains lactose
West Side Glory, 7.0% – West Coast IPA, a collaboration with Stone Brewing
The Union, 7.0% – India Pale Ale, bottle conditioned, brewed on the Union system

A NEW HAZY FROM ABBEYDALE

Abbeydale have teamed up with hop suppliers Hopsteiner on their latest release, Dreamlike, a hazy IPA built around two hops that are new to them, Alora and Solero. Expect mango, peach, passionfruit and a bit of melon.

🔨 FOUR FROM LITTLE MESTERS JUST LANDED

Sheffield’s own Little Mesters Brewing have dropped in with a proper mixed bag this time, something for the session drinkers and something for anyone after a bit more of a challenge.

Little Mesters take their name from the city’s old cutlery trade, the self-employed craftsmen who worked the small workshops around Sheffield. The Last Mester is actually named in tribute to Stan Shaw, believed to be the last of the Little Mesters, who sadly passed away in 2021.

A BELGIAN FRUIT B**R HAS LANDED! 🍒

We’ve got something a little different in the fridges with Super 8 Cherry from Belgian brewery Haacht.

At just 3.4% ABV, this is a refreshing wheat b**r blended with a hefty 25% cherry juice, giving it a lovely red fruit character, gentle tartness and plenty of refreshment without being overly sweet.

It’s been around since 2006 and has picked up some recognition along the way, including World’s Best Fruit B**r at the World B**r Awards in 2018. 🇧🇪🍒

TWO NEW WHISKIES HAVE LANDED!

We’ve got two new bottles from Integrity Malts in at Craft & Berry, including one with a very special Sheffield connection.

Steel City Wh**ky – 46%
A 10-year-old Speyside single malt and the inaugural release from Integrity’s Steel City Wh**ky brand. Made as a celebration of Sheffield’s industrial heritage, with artwork by Sheffield artist Luke Horton. Expect juicy pear, marmalade, summer fruits and a lovely sweet, warming finish. Only 252 bottles were produced.

Staoisha (Bunnahabhain) – 64%
For the peat lovers. This Islay single malt comes from Bunnahabhain’s peated Staoisha spirit and has been matured in ex-Garrison Brothers bourbon casks from Texas. Think smoke, peat, coastal character, spice and plenty of depth, all bottled at a hefty 64%.

Two very different whiskies, but both are cracking examples of what independent bottling can bring to the table.

A big new drop from Polly’s Brew Co. has landed at Craft & Berry 🍺

Seven fresh b**rs from the North Wales brewery, with plenty of the big, hop-forward stuff Polly’s do so well.

🌸 Good Mood – Oat Cream Pale 5.5%
Soft, smooth and full-bodied, taking the juicy pale ale in an oat cream direction.

🎨 Static Art – Pale Ale 5.8%
Citra and Mosaic Lupomax provide bags of juicy hop character, backed up by Centennial for a little extra bitterness and balance.

🌌 As Above, So Below – Double IPA 8%
The biggest of the new arrivals. A full-strength DIPA and one of Polly’s latest fresh releases.

🚘 Route 99 – West Coast IPA 6%
A change of direction from all the soft and hazy stuff. Leaner, drier and more bitter, with classic pine, grapefruit and resinous West Coast character.

🌺 Liquid Bloom – Oat Cream IPA 6.5%
This one sounds particularly good. Talus provides the bitterness, with Mosaic and Meridian bringing softer fruit notes of mandarin, lemon, boysenberry, mango and papaya. Oats, vanilla and lactose give it that big, pillowy oat cream body.

🍍 Pineapple Krush – Pineapple IPA 6%
Bru-1 and Krush hops were deliberately chosen for their pineapple character, then Polly’s added Pineapple Abstrax to push it even further. Their own tasting description essentially boils down to: pineapple, pineapple and more pineapple.

🌸 Bigger Petals – IPA 6.2%

A couple of proper Czech la**rs have just landed at Craft & Berry 🇨🇿🍺

Podkováň has a brewing heritage stretching all the way back to 1434, with its la**rs still made in Central Bohemia using traditional methods. The brewery uses water drawn from its own 300-metre underground spring, open fermentation and a slow maturation of around 40 days.

We’ve got two to try:

🍺 Světlý Ležák – Classic Czech L***r
Golden, clean and smooth, balancing gentle malt character with that classic Czech hop bitterness.

🌑 Tmavý Ležák – Dark Czech L***r
Made with dark roasted malts, giving it richer notes of caramel, chocolate and coffee while keeping that smooth, drinkable l***r character.

Over 600 years of Czech brewing tradition packed into a couple of cans.

Both are in the fridge now at Craft & Berry.
