Three weeks ago, we said goodbye to Novel’s former iteration.

I figured I’d commemorate it with another ludicrously capacious tote bag, this time in Fitzcarraldo Editions fiction blue, with an extra handle and an interior pocket. Capacity-wise, she’s perfect. Beach bag ✔️ weekend bag ✔️ small business owner junk bag ✔️

After collection and inspecting, I can’t be certain I’ve not subconsciously ripped off the massive IKEA tote??? But I do know the quality is excellent (TY Printed by Us).

There are a limited number. They will be available at today & I’ll throw in a £5 book token if because I’m feeling generous ✨ I’ll upload to the website next week 🫡

Thanks for all the love over on ’s profile ✨ we can’t wait to welcome you back

We’ve had fun popping by other new independents this last month. If you haven’t done so already, go check out:

Cats | Café-Bar | Sheffield lovely cappuccino, beautiful space. Excited to pop back during the evening for a tipple 🍷 Bonus points for the whippet. Peggy, I love you!

St Luke's, Sheffield's Hospice bigger & better vintage shop, just round the corner from their original unit. Best charity shop in Sheff? I think so.

Manfred's big foamy la**rs & coffee offering conveniently located opposite Endcliffe Park’s big field. Had a delish iced chocolate filter, go check them out!

Foodie friends, gherkin girlies, kimchi crew, this one’s for you!

Part recipe book, part travelogue, part deep dive into the microscopic world quietly transforming our food. From pungent pickles to bubbling brews, it’s a celebration of the tiny microbes responsible for some of our biggest flavours.

Johnny Drain explores practices across world-class kitchens, chocolate and coffee producers, laboratories and breweries. His book celebrates the slow transformations that give us everything from sourdough to sauerkraut, and makes a compelling case for embracing a little more microbial magic in our lives.

We’re loving Dr Johnny’s sauerkraut recipe 🫙 we think you’ll love Adventures in Fermentation.

We’re delighted to see Universality by Natasha Brown, one of our staff picks of 2025, out in paperback ✨ plus, we’ve got a couple of hardback editions that I’ve discounted on our website.

Synopsis:

On an abandoned Yorkshire farm, a group of hippie-anarchists have taken up residence to build a new society. When their leader is brutally bludgeoned with a solid gold bar, an ambitious young journalist sets out to uncover the truth behind the attack. The longread exposé she writes goes viral - but is there more to the story than meets the eye?

Universality unravels the messy aftermath of that exposé through the perspective of each of the mystery’s key players: a self-pitying banker, a columnist with secrets, a cult leader with dreams, and a fugitive with nothing left to lose.

The follow-up to Natasha Brown’s Assembly is a twisty, slippery story of media, class, power and truth. Cutting through the noise, it reveals British society today for what it is.
