Afternoon

Just to let you know I am going through all my eBay listings to include options such as colour and lengths etc.

That means it should be easier to request a particular requirement, rather than in the messages. It’ll also make my life easier as the option will be there rather than me trying to remember.

This will allow me to reduce the number of listings so not as much searching around on eBay.

Amongst the first to get an update are the M3 Button Head and Countersunk M3 Grade 10.9 bolts.

Thanks
Shaun

Evening All
Just in making mode at the moment

Another batch of the popular pinion protectors off the mill.

These not only help protect the pinion/motor from impact damage but the also help the motor be firmly held in position.

The eBay listing is in the comments!

Happy Evening and Cheers
Shaun

This is another idea that’s been in my mind and on my desk for too long.

Adapting the rear pod to use a carbon rear axle, and in this guise the GT12 3 bolt wheel.

I know oval racing and the popular Mini series don’t allow carbon axles but it is very cheap and easy to work with, but you’ve got to manage the dust.

A 1.0m length of this rod cost £10 so it is possible to made the hubs not be glued onto the axle then you have a very cheap axle material. Where the racer could buy the rod themselves and fit the hubs, that’ll be about £1 per axle.

Another saving is in the manufacture of the pod, you don’t need to machine the recesses so the bearings are at the correct position to work with the standard axle fittings like the K-Drive. Also the pod sides are not handed and work on both sides.

There is a big question as to how robust the rod is and also the wheels. With permission I’ll be trying it when I go racing next.

The hubs are currently 3D printed but will be being made in aluminium in the coming days.

Got to keep trying things
Cheers

There you go who says you can’t have your cake and eat it!

This is a rear pod that works with the Kamtec 1300 Pro chassis, it both lowers and offsets the motor to the max. It is legal to race to current rules as the motor pod is symmetrical.

Very pleased with this, shame it’s been kicking around inside my head for so long.

Must admit though the inspiration for how to mount the motor came from touring cars as they often mount the motor only using two bolts at the bottom of the motor.

There will be a small slot cut in the side to allow easy access to the pinion grub screw, the design is based on Schumacher pinion gears.

The eBay listing is in the comments, it is £35 plus postage and fees.

Happy racing, keep smiling and thinking
Cheers

Evening after a weekend of making and sorting, got around to finishing this new pod off.

All the pods I’ve made so far have been based of accommodating a brushed motor. Unfortunately a brushed motor only has 2 mounting holes, but brushless motors have a 6 bolt hole pattern. The 2 bolt pattern means if you want to run the motor low you have to use a transfer plate, typically 4mm thick.

This new pod uses the top 3 bolts of the 6 bolt hole pattern, which means there are no low bolts to accommodate. No transfer plate is needed and the motor can go as low as you want. The motor is low and it is offset as much as it can be.

It’s not all win win, access to the pinion screw is not easy, but I am working on it.

Will keep you updated on how it goes

Cheers

Morning All

Finally got round to putting this bumper on eBay.

It is a 60mm long rear bumper the standard typical length is 30mm. It was originally asked for by a racer and I think it’s something others might want.

It comes with the mounting kit as useual and is £9 plus postage.

See eBay listing in comment

Thanks

Lots of people have great ideas fortunately I have the ability to make mine into reality.

The latest thing I’ve made the DDB braces was suggest by Tornado Trev 😉.

Every club has a whole bunch of ideas people they are often called racers.

If you have an idea like Trev that isn’t based on rocket science get in touch.

Keep racing, keep smiling and most of all keep thinking.

Cheers
