Morning All

Finally got ahead of my orders and can put some new listings up.

First up are a set of Top and Bottom spring holders to suit the standard sized springs supplied by Kamtec and Mardave.

They help keep the spring where should and stop it moving to a location where it doesn’t work as designed.

Evening All

Finally got round to making the additional piece for for the standard top deck support it works with a long wheel base setup.

Like the standard wheel base design you only need to remove one bolt to access the battery.

The supports are mode from HDPE-500 and are very robust. One of the ideas behind the design is to ensure the top deck doesn’t move relative to the chassis and the bolts don’t bend.

You will need to drill two holes in the top deck, a template is provided.

The kits available in red, green, blue, yellow, white and black and is £12. It’s listed on eBay and it’s £12.

Will post up some more items tomorrow including an XL Wheel Base version.

Well that took a lot longer than expected but it is done now and plenty are available.

The re-engineered battery holder for the DDB 2Ltr Saloon, now made out of HDPE-500.

Very pleased with how it feels and works. I made an effort to make this design easy to live with. To make it easy to slide the battery in and out I had to make a cranked spacer to clear the battery leads, see photo.

The new design incorporates the servo mount that is used to hold the side plates, so if the thread fails it’s easily replaced. It also works with the original battery clamp plate.

DDB 2Ltr Saloon Front Over Rider

Was asked to make this for a customer and think it’s quite good looking.

It’s an over rider for the front bumper. It’s machines from 6mm plate and is approx 11mm high above the front bumper.

It mounts the existing bolt holes so no drilling required. The kit comes with fix bolts to suit the increased height.

It is compatible with the front bracing assembly I make.

The eBay listing is in the comments, £6.50 plus the £2.50 postage.

Holiday Time
It’s time for my yearly holiday to confirm I am not as fit as the previous year, going cycling in Slovenia 😉.

I’ll stop taking orders on Tuesday night and will return on the 15th of September.

There will be some posts later today the main one is the DDB Battery holder as it’s finished and ready for shipping.

Finally got time to make the DDB battery holder out of HDPE-500.

Pleased to say it fits well and will be (not should be) much more robust than the previous design.

This one is 15mm thick which might be a few mm to high at the side where the battery slides in, so will have a play with that.

A nice touch is the use of a standard servo mount for screwing the side plates to,. It can be replaced easily.

Will have to check what the postage is on this as it’s a bit thicker and may push it up to a small parcel.

Will put a post up when it’s ready

Will be available in red blue green white black and yellow.

First pass on new design for the battery holder done

Tweaks include
- standoff posts will not pass through the holder
- more material around known failure point
- space to allow standard servo post.

I am pretty sure this design will be robust enough.

Like the feature to use the standard servo post for the side plate mount. It can be replaced as and when required.

Will make a hdpe version tonight

Morning All

Some of you might not know this but I don’t like my stuff failing prematurely. Things will always break but they should give a reasonable life while in use.

Thus I am stopping selling the 3D printed DDB battery holders and will be producing them in HDPE 500. Despite my best efforts in design the rigours of the DDB cars cause them to fail in the short term.

Should have the new design ready for the weekend.

Them’s that have bought the 3D print design will be offered the new one at a discounted price to the value of the original purchase.

Any current orders on eBay will be refunded.

Sorry about this and let’s continue to race and have a good time.

Evening All

This is something I’ve been asked for several times but never really had the chance to make it.

Now that I am ok with aluminium machining this time when I was asked I thought yep I can do that.

It’s a fixed gearing pod. This pod is for 14/48 gearing and nothing else. The idea is the motor will not move out of mesh no matter what happens.

Tried several spur gears from different manufacturers with surprising results, basically they are not all the same size. Some have a bit of float between the gears others are tight.

Not tried and machined one yet.
