📚 choose a book you have read in ANY language and come and talk about it in English (need help choosing? LET ME KNOW!)
🎤 it’s called open mic but there will be no mic, just friends talking to friends about the books they love
🚫 you can’t talk about a book that you have written (you can tell us about it after you have talked about a book that changed your life)
🍷 it’s BYOB with free alcohol / refreshments offered

It’s happening! Our next event bringing the Cyprus Film Festival in the UK for the first time in with the auspices of Cyprus in UK - Culture

🎬🇨🇾 THE UK CYPRUS FILM FESTIVAL ARRIVES IN SHEFFIELD! 📚✨

For the very first time, the UK Cyprus Film Festival 2026 is coming to Sheffield, in collaboration with Diavazo Greek Books
Join us on Sunday, 11 October 2026 for an afternoon bringing together ancient mythology, theatre, contemporary Cypriot cinema and community.

🎭 1:00pm | THE FIVE FACES OF APHRODITE

Our afternoon begins with a one-hour interactive theatre-education workshop exploring five fascinating stories surrounding Aphrodite.

Through storytelling, theatre, movement and creative participation, we will discover the many faces of the goddess and explore how the myths associated with Cyprus continue to travel across cultures, generations and centuries. 🌊🏺✨

🎬 2:00pm | PAUSE by Tonia Mishiali

We then move from ancient mythology to contemporary Cyprus with Pause, the acclaimed feature film by Cypriot writer-director Tonia Mishiali.

Powerful, intimate and uncompromising, Pause explores the world of a middle-aged woman living within an oppressive marriage. As reality and fantasy begin to blur, the film becomes a compelling exploration of female identity, silence, desire, ageing and the search for personal freedom.
