What a wonderful time we had on sunday at our monthly Sewcial Sunday here in the heart of Pen*stone. Lots of chatter and things made. The cutting out table was definitely the most used equipment, with three garments getting cut out and also three quilts using the space to layout, check and cut. Thanks to my mum we had lots of chocolate biscuits.
So it you want to have a whole day of sewing with like minded people, need a large table for cutting out or just to have some me time, then reserve the third Sunday of the month for sewing at a Sewcial Sunday, book your place and never look back.
But, places are limited so don't delay.

Ordering fabric isn't easy. You order 6 - 9 months in advance and then forget what you have ordered. But this collection, which is waiting to be shipped to our lovely shop here in Pen*stone, is one I have been excited about since I ordered it and I just can't wait! Fingers crossed it will be here next week!

Lots more Elizabeth Hartman quilt patterns arrived into the shop here in Pen*stone yesterday. These are so popular, that as I was unpacking them, two were purchased before they went on the shelf.
What I love about these patterns is that they are so versitile. Mix and match them, make a large quilt, lap quilt or a cushion cover. Use your scraps or a range of fabric. My perfect idea would be to make the pajama ones, and make it into a memory quilt.

I've been waiting for a day without rain or wind (when I'm at the shop) so that I could take a photo of the temperature quilt, with the tall owner of Wool Monkey holding it. Hope you like it!

When I started selling fabric and haberdashery, I used to sell on market stalls, outside in the cold, winding, wet weather. But I loved it.
To keep all my zips together I put them in a picnic basket, great for carrying them and the display was impressive, but in my shop it was cumbersome and got in the way.
Roll forward three years, and they now hang in pride of place at the end of my counter.
But to be honest, I miss the basket.

Did someone mention Christmas?

Yes I know we haven't even got to midsummer yet, and the weather feels more like autumn, but anyone who crafts for Christmas will already be thinking about what they need to make.

So to get ahead we have now got glitter felt in stock, but don't think this is just for Christmas, what about gifts for teachers, fascinators for weddings the list is only as long as your imagination.
