A proper pork pie deserves proper piccalilli 🥒🧅💛

Today's batch has now cooled, been labelled and stored away to mature.

I grow most of the vegetables that go into my piccalilli here in the garden before making it in small batches in my kitchen.

It's definitely worth the wait. ☺

It pairs perfectly with a delicious pork pie or thick-cut butcher's ham. How do you eat yours? 🥧🧀🥪

A first for me today!

A Hummingbird Hawk Moth 🐛

It moved so quickly from flower to flower, sticking its long tongue into each flower 🌸 the zoomed up picture shows its tongue rolled up 💗😍

It's made my day 😊

Another bumper crop of sloes this year 🍇

They'll soon be finding their way into one of my best-selling and personal favourite preserves...

A little update on our guinea fowl family... 🤍

A few weeks ago one of our free-ranging guinea hens hatched nine chicks out in the wild.

🦊 One night they had a fox attack but thankfully Mum managed to get away with six chicks and just a few feathers missing 🙏🏻

The chicks are growing quickly now and getting more adventurous, although they're never far from Mum or the rest of the very protective flock 😊

Our older guinea fowl roost in the big oak tree every night, hopefully these six will be joining them before too long... and I can worry a little less! 🌳
