Not all ‘composts’ (growing media) are the same.
Visited a plant breeder trial ground on Thursday to take a look. They’re conduction trials on retail “peat free” compost. The thing that bothers me about “peat free” is it only tells you want isn’t in it, not what is. There’s a much longer (dissertation level) explanation available here, but for social media I’ll just say - Buyer beware.
This is a “blind” trial but I know that no.17 is a major brand sold UK wide in supermarkets.
I also know that the entire trial ground. Which is amazing, uses Bulrush compost. The only brand we both use and sell.

Just taken a large delivery of ornaments including tables, chairs and benches. We now have a huge pile of lovely flat cardboard. We have a commercial recycling contract but this is perfect for a zero dig project or mulching a freshly cultivated area. It’s free to any collector. Take it away. It’s in our car park. Hortico.
