Morning! So in the shop this morning working towards completed wedding outfits, I just checked the diary and just to clarify, the Quilters Group IS ON this Thursday 6th August 5.30pm-8pm! Sorry to all those who asked!

At this week's group there will be many remnants for sale, so even if you re not coming to the quilting group, come fir the remnants.....

Tomorrow (Tuesday) I ll be opening from 8.30-12.45.....I have a very special bride and her entourage to meet for final fittings at Big Barn .......thanks for understanding!

Hellooooo! How are you all?

Fab sewcial today...thanks to all who attended, always love the different projects people bring and how we inspire each other.....there is no such thing as perfection, but everyone does their very best and it is its own perfect!

Notice anything different? YES, the cutting table at Big Barn has been levelled, thanks to Jacqui's son, Simon who has a building company! And it was done for free which made it super special! It actually adds light and space .....thank you!

So one of our number had been on a shirring workshop, and we were all super excited with what she d done, so she ll be co-hosting a session with me on Sunday 6th of September 10-2....If anyone is interested let me know!

Good Monday! Mine has started well, with a spell in the shop working with my mentor Kenny from BackLight on the website....I m feeling lifted and inspired, so thank you!

Also pleased to see customers just dropping by, so I might consider opening on a Monday in the near future!

Anyway, it's always good to start the week with a bacon and sausage Bap from Alexander's Kitchen .....I couldn't resist and it was loverly!

So, following on from Saturday's workshop, a couple of attendees sent me pictures of their finished quilts, because they needed washing to create the Rag effect, so here they are....more events coming soon!

So tmrw the shop will be closed as I travel North, but open as usual from Wednesday....thats the BIG news for today...pass it on!

Well, what a wonderful Rag Quilt session today! Lovely group of individuals on the inaugural, and it went very well!

Thank you to our CO (cutter outer) Jacqui, and co-host Jo for making the session viable and to all who attended! Brilliant work, good conversation and a relaxed vibe augmented with drinks and cake!

If you would like to have a go, then come and have a chat! There are lots of sessions going on throughout the year!

On Saturday 25th July we ll be at Big Barn making Rag Quilts out of fat quarters! This is a fun quilting method that can be made in no time at all!

Arrive at 10am and leave at 2pm-ish with a small quilt....what's not to like?

It's £35 for the session, and that includes everything and more! All the fabrics will be pre-cut by our COs (Cutter Outers) in advance, so you ll just be heading straight for the make!

And don't forget our Quilters Group on Thursday evening 5.30-8pm....everyone is welcome!

Well, didn't they do well?

Thank you to all who attended the evolving Big Barn workspace....I ll do an update on it over the next few days, but for now.....

Today was bucket hats and project bags....thanks to our two COs (cutter outers), Jacqui and Sharon who undertook the precuts in the week and it really worked out! Sewists were able to get on with the most enjoyable part which is after all, the sew!

In this space, each person is their own little bundle of perfection, and the concentration and drive is always palpable....nothing is hard and fast here, there is guidance and support every step of the way!

What I really like and appreciate is the camaraderie and the support all attendees give to each other freely, from engaging in convos, to taking responsibility and showing each other skills, helping with housekeeping duties and making drinks...it doesn't get any better than that!

So, if you are interested then it all starts with a conversation.....remember the shop is open Tuesday-Friday 10-3 or you can just message me but for now.....

What a gorgeous day, I took the big dogs to the fields at 6am, it was sunny, but cool!

Now onto this week's activities......ver ver busy with a couple of weddings going off this week, so today particularly, the shop will be closed at 1pm today.......I need to sort two wedding dresses and three bridesmaids AND the area I want them to try on....by Saturday, eek!

Now, let me tell you about woman power.....in the 90s it was girl power, but move over girls, the big woman s in da house! On Monday I actually started laying the carpet in the dressing room! I have NEVER moved something so heavy and willful, and I might have fallen over, cussed and made friends with big spiders.....Just goes to show what you can do if you put your mind to it!

So, another two memory bears 🐻 waiting for their new homes, some tote bag to cushion makes, used the handles for piping.... I love these challenges...wait till you see the applique greyhound!

And finally a reminder of the sewcial this week on Saturday 10-2 at Big Barn....as well as the usual sew, we'll be making project bags and reversible bucket hats.....we re preparing packs tomorrow in readiness.... hope to see you there!

Thursday evening was Quilters at Big Barn, thank you to the two who attended and thanks for the apols from others.....life and heat!

Yesterday we covered 'quilt and go' .....and these were beautifully sewn by our two attendees augmented with huge cups of tea, raspberries and som clotted cream short bread from Cornwall....what's not to like?

Now don't forget, the Quilters Group runs the 2nd and 4th Thursday on the month, so the next one is July 23rd 5 30-8pm at Big Barn....if you need transport, let me know! 🌞
