I was reorganising my books, like I do every couple of months, and my boyfriend made a joke about how it's "that time again". But it's not just a compulsion driven by a need for control or an ADHD impulse to suddenly get my life together, it actually has a practical purpose!
When was the last time you rearranged your books? How often do you do it?

A classic 70s horror. It's scary in a way that I think it's quite typical of 70s horror, there's an eeriness and a sense of dread that builds rather than outright scares. It was definitely more sexual than I had been expecting, like sexuality is quite central to the book and it's characters. (Something that I think it also quite typical of 70s horror) It felt like a bit of a hypersexual, depraved Haunting of Hill House.
I felt so bad for poor Fischer having to deal with the 3 of them whilst also dealing with his own trauma.
It was definitely a crazy ride and the ending was truly unexpected. It felt somewhat of an anticlimax considering the hellish chaos that preceded it but sometimes that works. (Like war of the worlds)
A solid piece of horror.
Have you read Hell House? What were your thoughts?

So I'm sure you are all sick of hearing about this trademark scandal but the more I find out, the angrier I get and I love a rant. So I'm getting it out of my system and I might delete it later 😂
This person has apparently been a reader for 3 years... The phrase she has trademarked has been in use since before she started reading. And the "hot girl movement" is largely credited to Megan Thee Stallion. So a white woman has trademarked something created by a black woman... Gross.
She also claims not to be targeting small businesses and yet there a screenshots of messages and her own social media stories in which she has told businesses to take down products that feature this phrase. Including a small business with 1k followers.
She also has a history of selling unlicensed bookish merchandise on her store... She only took these products down after the TM controversy. So apparently she is allowed to profit from others work?
Also her designs are so basic. I hate to get nasty about it because people like what they like but her "original designs" are generic, uninspired stuff that you can buy from anywhere. If you are going to take this controversial and destructive stance, you better be bringing some sick designs that are unique and creative and cannot be beat. I can get items almost identical to hers from a hundred retailers (and it's not because they are copying her designs).
I love a confident business woman but this gal is delusional. She could have happily gone on getting her bag and selling her stuff but she decided to get greedy and try to screw over other creators. And in doing so she has exposed her complete lack of talent or originality.
Also, popsockets and Amazon and barns & noble and lots of other huge corporation use this phrase on bookish merch... Not a single billion dollar company bothered to trademark this phrase but sure girl, go off, I hope she will be getting in touch with all their legal teams and issuing some Cease and Desists to "protect" herself... With love.
Rant over 😂

There's been a lot of discourse around the Hot Girls Read trademark and I cannot add anything that hasn't already been said but I'll try...
To trademark such a basic, commonly used phrase for personal, financial gain at the expense of small businesses is gross. She knows it's gross and wrong, and just doesn't care. But I'm happy to see so many of the book loving community condemn her actions and recognise it for what it is - a money grab and a strike on small creators.
She trademarked the words, not a design. A phrase that has been in use long before she started creating merchandise. A phrase that no one else has ever been self centred or delusional enough to trademark because real book lovers don't gakekeep words... Because that goes against everything that a book lover should stand for. Words and freedom of expression go hand in hand.
It's always a sad day when a genuine community takes a hit that is fueled by greed and consumerism.
I have no doubt that she will continue to benefit and feel no remorse or regret whilst actively harming independent businesses. But at least I have seen that for every 1 selfish act, there are 1000 people who stand and speak against it.
Love you bookstagram. 💓

I'm not very good at keeping track of days so this was meant to be Two for Tuesday.... But instead it's Two for Wednesday... Featuring the books that my boyfriend and I bought over the weekend. Can you guess which on is mine?
My boyfriend doesn't read much so it was quite an event when he said he wanted to buy a book!
Do you have a lot of book lover friends irl or do you rely on Instagram to share your book opinions?
