So I'm sure you are all sick of hearing about this trademark scandal but the more I find out, the angrier I get and I love a rant. So I'm getting it out of my system and I might delete it later 😂
This person has apparently been a reader for 3 years... The phrase she has trademarked has been in use since before she started reading. And the "hot girl movement" is largely credited to Megan Thee Stallion. So a white woman has trademarked something created by a black woman... Gross.
She also claims not to be targeting small businesses and yet there a screenshots of messages and her own social media stories in which she has told businesses to take down products that feature this phrase. Including a small business with 1k followers.
She also has a history of selling unlicensed bookish merchandise on her store... She only took these products down after the TM controversy. So apparently she is allowed to profit from others work?
Also her designs are so basic. I hate to get nasty about it because people like what they like but her "original designs" are generic, uninspired stuff that you can buy from anywhere. If you are going to take this controversial and destructive stance, you better be bringing some sick designs that are unique and creative and cannot be beat. I can get items almost identical to hers from a hundred retailers (and it's not because they are copying her designs).
I love a confident business woman but this gal is delusional. She could have happily gone on getting her bag and selling her stuff but she decided to get greedy and try to screw over other creators. And in doing so she has exposed her complete lack of talent or originality.
Also, popsockets and Amazon and barns & noble and lots of other huge corporation use this phrase on bookish merch... Not a single billion dollar company bothered to trademark this phrase but sure girl, go off, I hope she will be getting in touch with all their legal teams and issuing some Cease and Desists to "protect" herself... With love.
Rant over 😂
