We’ve mentioned that we will be printing custom wagons while-u-wait at GETS in October

We’ll also be rolling the service out on the website too.

So to test the technology and the various webpages, we’ve set up some test templates with our stock of Dapol 5 plank wagons.

These products are live and available to order at an introductory price while we evaluate the process

On the website you can choose from a range of templates, add your brand or layout name, location and running numbers. Or upload your own logo for us to print directly onto the wagon

There are currently 5 templates and the upload-able logo version to choose from, as well as a range of colours.

We only really had one shot at getting Eleanor right, so we wrapped the loco in cling film and printed on that for the test. It allowed us to judge the colour density and placement

All seemed good so we unwrapped it and held our breath as we printed directly onto the power car. 5 minutes later and it was done

I would have preferred to be able to take the body off and remove the glazing, but there were only 3 windows on each side that needed masking
