Happy 1 year of Katie Bird Decluttering and Selling.

Working a part time job, coaching lacrosse, child minding, helping my husband as a boarding house parent, being a new mum and a pup mum of two - you would think I have enough on but I have had such a blast the past year selling your preloved clothes, toys and home wear and I can’t wait to see what the next year brings!

I definitely know I am guilty of this.

Dresses for Wedding, Suits from when I worked a corporate job, boots I love that are far too high for me!

I think its time for us all to dig deep into the bottom of our draws and cupboard and reduce that 40%

3 reason to buy second hand:

1. It’s more sustainable - buying second hand is a much more eco-friendly option. It won’t solve the bigger problem but it will definitely help. When we buy a used item we are saving on all the resources it takes to make it. For example - it takes 2,700 litres of water to make one cotton T-shirt.

2. It saves you money - second hand items come in at a fraction of the price of the new item and if you are buying on selling apps like Vinted and Depop you can haggle.

3. It’s a form of self-expression- vintage items can be unique and beautiful and a one off. Rather than looking like everyone else you have something that is just for you!
