and St Julian's Church We also celebrate services on major feasts and saints' days.

The Church of the 318 Holy Fathers, Shrewsbury is a church of the Greek Orthodox Church (Ecumenical Patriarchate) within the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain. We maintain a full cycle of services, celebrated in English with some Greek, Romanian and Church Slavonic. Weekend services are at 6.00pm on Saturdays (Vespers/Evening Prayer) and 9.30am on Sunday mornings (Orthros/Morning prayer and Divine Liturgy/Eucharist). In addition, the Paraklesis (service of intercession) to the Theotokos is served every Thursday at 7.00 pm. There is usually one Divine Liturgy during the week at either 8.00 am or 10.30.am. All details are on the calendar at our website - www.shrewsburyorthodox.com

On the first Sunday of the month the service is in Telford. Our services and church events are open to anyone - Orthodox or not - who would like to come and share in our life of worship and prayer. The Divine Liturgy on Sundays and feasts is followed by a time of fellowship to which all are also welcome. We also have regular youth activities with a youth club on the third Sunday of the month and Sunday School on the first Sunday of the month

A special moment. Our priests and a delegation of our congregation met with His All-Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Divine Wisdom in London, after the Patriarchal Chorostasia of His All-Holiness.

Our parish thanks His All-Holiness for his love and care for our community, as we celebrate 40 years, and His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas for this great opportunity given to us on his nameday. Εις πολλά έτη, Δέσποτα! ‎

Today we commemorated 40 years to the day since the community’s first Divine Liturgy in 1986.

From a congregation of 8 people in the second week we now need to use a larger church building to accommodate the thriving congregation.

Wow, we have come a long way - now holding services at two churches. Smaller services are held at the Orthodox Church of the 318 Holy Fathers of Nicaea in Sutton, Shrewsbury, and our congregation has grown to such an extent that we are now blessed to hold larger services at St Julian’s Church, in the heart of town.

A Sunday Divine Liturgy now attracts a congregation of around 130 and we regularly see over 500 people attend for Holy Pascha.

The first Divine Liturgy was celebrated at Frankwell Methodist Church on the Forefeast of the Elevation of the Cross (September 13), 1986. Father Alban Barter presided, and Father Barnabas led the choir. There was a congregation of 35 for the first Divine Liturgy with many visitors, including Andrew Wright, the owner of St Julian’s.

Father Stephen was ordained to the Orthodox priesthood on December 28, 1986.

Glory to God! 🙏
