Trek Shrewsbury is proud to be supporting Darren Edwards and the Redefining Impossible Foundation as he prepares for an extraordinary challenge.

Our team helped dial in Darren’s incredible Bowhead handbike ahead of his attempt to become the first handbike and tandem team to complete the Traws-Eryri (Trans-Snowdonia) – an epic 200 km journey across the iconic mountains of Snowdonia, from Machynlleth to Conwy. 🚵💪

This is an inspiring challenge that showcases determination, resilience, and the belief that limits are there to be redefined.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for our Trek Shrewsbury Gravel Ride! 🚴‍♂️🌿

It was fantastic to share the trails, countryside views, plenty of smiles, and some well-earned post-ride snacks with such a great group. Big thanks to Fred(bike fit guru) and Howard(Shropshire Mon) for leading the ride and making it such an enjoyable day.

🚵‍♂️☀️ Summer Solstice MTB Event– Snowdonia MTB Events Delivers Again! ☀️🚵‍♂️

What an incredible day out this past Sunday at another fantastic Snowdonia MTB event! A huge well done to Gareth and his family for once again putting together a truly spectacular event.

Starting at sea level on the beautiful Barmouth Beach and tackling a gruelling 1,800 metres of elevation over 35 miles, this ride certainly wasn’t for the faint-hearted. The climbs were absolutely brutal, but we were rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views Barmouth has to offer😁.

Will and I took our Trek Rail+ 8’s out for the day, and they proved to be the perfect weapon of choice. From technical climbs to fast-flowing descents, the Rail+ handled everything the mountains could throw at us with ease.

Battery performance was equally impressive. After 35 miles of mixed terrain and switching between assist modes, I finished with 17% remaining on the 800Wh battery. Will, however, rolled in with just 12% left and spent the latter part of the ride carefully managing his assistance levels. We suspect he may have been enjoying that full 120Nm of torque in Turbo mode from the very start! 😆

Days like these remind us why we love mountain biking so much — challenging ourselves, riding amazing trails, and sharing the experience with great people.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, and a massive thank you again to the organisers. We can’t wait for the next one!

From initial discussions with Fred about anything from bikes to surfing, and ordering the bikes from Pete who thoroughly explained the spec, sizing, accessories and ordering process. I had a small issue on collection which needed to go back to the workshop for adjustment, but Pete couldn’t have been more prompt and genuinely committed to resolving, 5 star service received. I was pleased to experience the same level of service in aftercare as I had with the initial sale. These guys certainly take a great deal of pride in the work they do. Thanks to the workshop and all who I’ve spoken to and have helped with my order. I wouldn’t have any hesitation in placing my trust again in Trek Bicycle Shrewsbury store, and particularly appreciate the support post sales. ⚡️ Gravel, hills, batteries, and bragging rights! 🚴‍♂️⛰️

This past weekend, three of us headed to the Peak District to take on the Glorious Gravel event, tackling the 70km (43-mile) route aboard two Trek Checkpoint+ SL 5 electric gravel bikes and one Trek Checkpoint SL 5.

The funniest part? The oldest rider in the group, Fred, was the only one riding the non-electric bike! 😂 Fair play, Fred – proving age is just a number.

I rode a Checkpoint+ SL 5 with its smooth 60Nm motor and 360Wh battery, using a mixture of assist modes throughout the day. Thanks to the comfortable endurance geometry, it felt planted and comfortable even on the longest climbs and roughest sections. I rolled over the finish line with 10% battery remaining.

Meanwhile, our very own Shropshire Mon took a more conservative approach, only using the assist when he really needed it... and finished with a whopping 83% battery left! 👏

Same bike. Same distance. Completely different riding styles.

It just goes to show how versatile and lightweight the Checkpoint+ really is. Use the assist when you want it, save it when you don't, and enjoy the ride either way.
