Ever wondered how the roast level actually changes what’s in your mug? ☕🔥

When green coffee beans enter our roaster, the roast duration and heat completely transform their flavour chemistry. Here is a quick breakdown of what happens at each stage:

Light Roast: Roasted for the shortest time to preserve the bean's natural origin. Expect bright acidity, delicate floral aromas, and subtle fruity or herbal notes.

Medium Roast: The sweet spot for balance! The sugars in the bean begin to caramelise, adding warmth, sweet cocoa, and toasted nut notes while retaining a smooth, gentle acidity.

Dark Roast: Roasted longer for deep, bold intensity. The bean's natural sugars fully caramelise into rich dark chocolate, smoky molasses, and a heavy, velvety body with low acidity.

At Aroma, we roast our single origins between Light & Medium (First Crack), as we believe this best highlights the bean's origin and profile. Because blends combine multiple coffees, we roast them Medium or above to achieve an even roast.
