Let's celebrate our talented makers ✨

One shop. Home to 47 Yorkshire makers. 47 people who sit at kitchen tables, workshops and narrowboats making things by hand, one at a time.

Skipton's celebrating art and craft today. So if you're in town, come and meet their work.

Every purchase goes straight back to a local maker, and that's the whole point of us.

We do love a bit of nostalgia and this jewellery really has something about it. We can't get enough of them.

Every piece was cutlery once. A spoon handle, cut and set with a stone. A spoon bowl, hammered flat and stamped by hand. Victoria of Little Green Tree works with antique and vintage silver, her husband Mark does the cutting, and no two come out the same because no two spoons ever were.

Spoon rings go back to the 1700s, apparently. Servants couldn't afford silver of their own, so they'd quietly turn a piece of their master's cutlery into a ring for someone they loved.

Meet Liz — the maker behind Indigo Star.

She was a librarian once. Nobody ever believed her. She moved into community and environmental work, kept following the creative thread, and eventually taught herself to make the jewellery she'd been collecting her whole life.

Now she hand-stamps aluminium one letter at a time, sets glass cabochons, and cuts wooden drops into stars and leaves. Thirteen of her designs are with us right now, from £10.

Every piece on this shelf had a first life before it had a second one.

A 1953 sixpence horse brass, mounted on solid wood and given two hooks for your keys. Horseshoes that spent years on a working horse, cleaned up and beaded by hand. Nothing mass-produced, nothing quite the same twice.

Spotty Horse Creations is one of our local makers here at Out of the Ordinary and the whole range is in store now, with plenty online too.
