🙏I tried really hard to become a one-project knitter...

💃…and then I cast on something new.

⏳ After eight weeks away from writing my regular Weekly Stitches blog post, I’ve realised it’s time to stop fighting it and simply embrace who I am – a knitter who loves the process just as much as the finished piece.

🙌🏻 Sometimes my hands want simple garter stitch. Sometimes they want a pattern that makes me think. And sometimes a beautiful new yarn simply has to be cast on.

📝 In this week’s blog I’m sharing what I’ve been knitting, why I think social media has changed the way we concentrate, and why I’ve decided to stop feeling guilty about having more than one project on the needles.

🐏 If you've been following Purl &Jane for a while, you'll know I've been passionate about British wool and natural fibres since the very beginning.

💃🕺🏽 I've always believed that not all wool is the same.

🍸🍹 In fact, one of our Yarnaholics once compared different sheep breeds to different spirits. Gin doesn't taste like whisky. Whisky doesn't taste like tequila. And Bluefaced Leicester doesn't knit like Jacob!

🧶 That's exactly why I'm so excited to introduce Yorkshire Yarn – our very own collection of British wool yarns.

🐑 We're starting with Bluefaced Leicester, one of Britain's most loved breeds, known for its softness, gentle sheen and beautiful stitch definition.

📚This is just the beginning of the story, and I can't wait to share more with you over the coming months.

It’s a beautifully sunny day in this Sunday. I’ll be keeping cool at Purl &Jane with some lovely people wanting to Learn to Crochet on today’s workshop. Soon there will be more happy hookers in the world!

Whoops… how did they get there??

A new cast on has mysteriously appeared on my needles… the Baby Heaton Tank Top!

I was trying very hard to finish the Philippa Jumper first but apparently the yarn had other ideas.

I can show you just how simple and enjoyable Fair Isle can be – especially when knitting in the round on double pointed needles. Once you learn a couple of little tricks for things like puckering, it suddenly all clicks into place. And honestly… it becomes completely addictive!

The workshop is on Monday 25th May from 10.30am to 4pm.

The cost is £65 and includes everything you need for the day, including yarn and needles.

All you need to bring is your willingness to learn something new – and refreshments.
