🌿💧 Hosepipe ban? You can still plant and grow! 💧🌿
Affinity Water’s Temporary Use Ban is in place across Buckinghamshire (including Farnham Common), but there are some important exemptions that mean you don’t have to put your gardening plans on hold:
✅ Plants grown for sale or commercial use
✅ Food crops at home or on an allotment (when a watering can isn’t practical) 🥕🍅
✅ New turf, lawns, trees, shrubs & plants for up to 28 days after planting (if done by a professional landscaper) 🌳🌱
✅ Young trees, hedges & saplings planted in the last 3 years (where hand watering isn’t practical) 🌲
💧 Drip/trickle irrigation is also allowed if it has a timer + pressure-reducing valve, isn’t hand-held, delivers water straight to the soil, and doesn’t spray into the air.
🪴 Planting now means your new trees, shrubs and plants can take advantage of the 28-day hosepipe exemption while they settle in. Late summer and early autumn are also a great time to get things in the ground — milder temperatures help plants establish with less stress, ready for the seasons ahead. 🍂☀️
At Farnham Common Nurseries we’re fully stocked with quality plants, trees, shrubs and more. Our team can advise on water-wise choices and planting techniques that help your new plants establish successfully. 🪴✨

🌿 Why Structure & Texture Make a Garden Truly Special 🌿
A beautiful garden isn’t just about colourful flowers — it’s the structure and texture that give it year-round interest, depth, and that “wow” factor that makes people stop and stare.
From bold variegated foliage and architectural topiary to dramatic dark leaves, fluffy plumes, and soft, billowing flower clouds — these elements create the backbone of a garden that looks good in every season.
Here are just some of the fantastic plants we have in stock right now at Farnham Common Nurseries that deliver exactly that:
Evergreen variegated shrubs for bright, reliable structure
Perfectly clipped topiary balls and tiers for instant elegance
Rich, textured foliage plants like Smoke Bush and dark-leaved beauties
Stunning Hydrangeas with gorgeous flower heads and autumn colour
Masses of pollinator-friendly perennials that add movement and softness
Structure holds the garden together. Texture brings it to life. Together, they create spaces that feel intentional, calming, and full of life.
Come and see (and feel!) these plants in person — we’d love to help you choose the perfect pieces for your garden.
