Who knew? The young lady pictured is non other than Florence Devore!! A nifty ditty “Kiss me now” written and produced by soul stalwarts and released on Phil Soector’s Phi-Dan label is pure class, and was regularly featured at t’ Casino … I can’t be the only one who thought she was a black gal!

I just had to buy this programme when a guy bought it in along with a bunch of records … I’d never seen one before and figured I probably won’t see another! Nope, another one turned up within a week or so … but, there was a nice surprise inside the second one in the shape of an original hand bill promoting this legendary tour

Dandy Livingstone, an early JA to U.K. music maker who hit big in the 70s with “Big City” and “Suzanne Beware of the Devil”. His 60s output includes the anthemic “Rudy, a message to you”. Here’s a rare album from 1967 enticing us to do the rock steady, that lovely soulful precursor to reggae on the obscure giant label, a subsidiary of R&B discs (not Rhythm and Blues, it’s Rita and Benny)! Dandy left that set up, which included the ska Beat label, under a cloud and through the early reggae years he put out a succession of singles and albums on Trojan’s down town label, as either producer or artist.
