Shenington Kart Club Round 5 Report 🏎️💪🏻
Sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of progress — especially after a challenging and testing weekend like this one.
Saturday practice sessions went well and was feeling relax and ready going into the Heats.
Heat 1 should have started P10, but some confusion at the dummy grid gate meant we had to start P24. Managed to fight through to P18 on track and then got promoted to P13 after penalties.
Heat 2 started P22, raced well but struggled for pace, finished P17.
Heat 3 started from the front row in P2 and was running well before getting bumped off 💥 Rejoined and finished P22.
Missed the A Final by just 4 points 🙄
B Final started P5, but the engine didn’t fire on the dummy grid. Managed to get going and only just tagged onto the back of the grid before the start. Raced nicely through the pack to finish P12 on track, promoted to P11 after penalties.
Shenington always makes for interesting racing with their mixed grid format. Personally, I wasn’t happy with my pace and still needed to find another 7/8 tenths - although I was quicker than my previous visits. After a lot of data analysis, I’ve identified some key areas I really need to work on.
