RMC Ultimate Kart Championship Round 3 – Warden Law.

Friday practice was always going to be a challenge. Without team support, we quickly realised we were on the back foot, with no recently testing here and little understanding of the setup required in very windy conditions and the track having minimal grip. Nevertheless, Dad and I knuckled down and got on with the task at hand, working hard to improve my lap times and learn as much as possible.

Saturday morning practice was more of the same before moving into the heats:

🏎️ Heat 1: Started P27 – Finished P27
Found it difficult to make any real progress and struggled to find the pace needed to move forward.

🏎️ Heat 2: Started P27 – Finished P25
Still lacking pace but kept pushing hard and managed to gain a couple of positions.

🏎️ Super Heat: Started P27 – Finished P22
The kart still wasn’t where we needed it to be, but confidence was definitely starting to build and I was becoming more competitive.

🏎️ Repechage: Started P22 – Finished P21
Fought my way up to P17 before being pushed wide and dropping back through the field. I kept pushing until the end, but realistically we needed another seven or eight tenths of pace catch up and battle in the middle.

I have to say dad did immense job on the tools this weekend and I completed all my sessions and heats without any technical issues or penalties 💪🏻

Despite the results, this weekend was hugely valuable. Competing at this level with a simple lad-and-dad operation against established teams showed us exactly where the benchmark is. The gap is clear, the challenge is big, but so is the motivation.

Karting at this level has given me sight of the mountain in front of me and what it will take to climb it 💪🏻🏎️👊🏻

Five race weekends in a row coming up! 🏎️💪🏻

Starting with Round 3 of the Ultimate Kart Championship at Warden Law this weekend. Unfortunately, we won’t have a team to run with, so we’re stripping it right back and going old school with a bit of lad-and-dad karting. 😜👊🏻

Looking forward to the challenge, learning as much as we can, and making the most of the weekend. Let’s get after it! 🏁🔥

Great day testing at Rowrah in Cumbria. I’ve been meaning to make it up here for a very long time, so it feels great to finally add this awesome circuit to my repertoire. What a track – fast, technical, and unlike anywhere else I’ve driven before. Plenty learned and lots to build on as I’m racing here in 3 weeks time in the Kart Championship 🏎️💨

Round 2 Race Report 🏁

A slightly humbling weekend for me at PFI.

Coming into the weekend I felt confident that I could compete in the tightly packed midfield, but motorsport has a way of keeping you grounded and unfortunately it didn’t quite work out that way.

Friday practice was all about finding the right setup for the high-grip conditions. We were struggling for top-end speed, so we switched engines, but actually ended up going slower. Thankfully, came to the rescue and kindly offered us the use of their spare engine, which definitely helped. Massive thanks again guys 💪🏼

Qualifying on Saturday didn’t go to plan, finishing 53rd out of 56 drivers, leaving me starting 27th for the heats.

Heat 1: P27 → P26 on track, but a penalty dropped me back to P27.

Heat 2: P27 → P26, and I was on course for P23 before a loose kingpin forced me to pit on the final lap.

Super Heat: P27 → P24 on track, but another penalty moved us back to P25.

While the results don’t tell the full story, there were still positives to take away. We improved throughout the weekend, learned a lot, and identified areas where we need to be better.

Sometimes the toughest weekends are the ones that teach you the most. We’ll keep working, keep learning, and come back stronger for the next round.
