My new neoprene aperture books made from a used wet suits from Norma Immerse Hebrides. and these first three wet suit journals are for her.

It's been a long time coming to use wetsuits for book covers triggered by a request from a year or so after COVID asking whether I could make books using swimming gear 💙

around the same time, Norma emailed asking whether I could make swim books (the email slipped me by at the time, only for me to stumble upon it a year or so ago) 💙

putting the two requests together, it took me a good couple of years to come up with a plan. Norma donated the first wet suit resulting in the first batch of books and she has now kindly given me three more to work with 🙏

WORKSHOP OUTCOME: stunning artist concertina book 🧡

My workshop guest mage stunning abstract landscape paintings during a workshop with Ellis O'Connor hosted by Margaret Soraya lin Harris ast summer and wanted to put them together as a book, and this is what we did. - this equally stunning concertina with a tweed inlay book cloth cover.

We started by choosing the order her paintings should appear in, considering both front and back panels (the theme of morning to evening scenes emerged). We then adhered front and back panels together, hung them together by.dark paper strips this making the book block and then finished by making the two cloth covered cover boards with a tweed only in the front cover.

The orange book cloth sat in harmony with the orange/brown tweed which itself reflected the colours of the evening panels.

All in all just really stunning 🧡

Yellow weathered fisherman's wellie boot coptic book, neoprene aperture binding and orange scallop glove aperture book - now at Taigh Chearsabhagh for the annual summer exhibition by . Lovely group exhibition showing a variety of different artists, media and approaches. Well worth a visit 💙💛🧡

WORKSHOP OUTCOME - lovely wee half day workshop with a lovely returner to the studio making leather journals, love the choice of yellow thread on the warm red leather, beautiful sewing ❤️💛

Thinking of putting together book kits for these chunky wee journals - good idea? Any thoughts? I've got such beautiful colours now, that I think it will be a feast for the eye 💙

Happy customers 😍 these three popped in with their dad on Monday to buy a coptic book kit and to order a warm red refillable leather journal and a pocket wrap around mini leather journal in bright blue - they popped in again next day on Tuesday, picked up the books they had ordered and the big sister proudly showed me the coptic book she had made the evening before 😯 (same time I had been making their books) - everybody full of smiles and I was left with a very warm feeling of joy after this whirlwind of sheer happiness ❤️💙

Lovely local repair - a book of animal tales - preserving original front and back board as well as original end papers - resewing book block - three part cover with original spine only - love love love reworking children's books just for the illustrations alone 🐾🧶❤️
