We have always loved Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation as an organisation, because they get results and reduce the demand for shark fin.

Please consider entering their prize draw to raise funds for their conservation work.

Our friend at Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation are having a fundraiser.

We personally know the founder and just how efficient and effective this charity is at influencing companies and the government on eliminating unsustainable use of marine creatures.

Shark fin is cartilage with zero flavour, no nutritional value, no medicinal properties, but it is still highly sought after and several shark species are in dire trouble as a result. Hollywood and tabloid journalism has made us scared of sharks, but more people are killed in the UK by cows each year than sharks globally.

JUST BREW IT ─ Huge thanks to our super-talented friend Oh, Dakuwaqa! who surprised us with this fabulous cartoon to promote our *Big Brew For The Blue* fundraising event that’s running all this week. The invitation is really simple … gather your friends, have fun talking about sharks and collect donations to support our campaigns to save the sharks, protect the oceans and spread the word. Don’t have time, then why not put a donations tin beside the kettle at work or home? Shocking sewage statistics released today. Massive rise in sewage dumping again, with more than double the previous years.

A shocking failure by the UK government to effectively regulate the privatised water companies, mostly owned by offshore entities.

🚨📢Another year, another total 💩show from the greedy, incompetent mess that is our water industry. 📢🚨

With such large figures being thrown about, it's easy to become numb to the reality of the situation. But don’t fall for the spin – the deluge of 💩 pouring into our rivers and seas is a generational scandal where a broken system, fuelled by greed, is causing catastrophic harm to lives, livelihoods and the natural world.

Yes, last year was a wet year, but this increase in spewing sewage is jaw-dropping. Our spineless authorities must finally see the industry’s promises for the smokescreen that they are. No more stern words from lecterns and slaps on the wrist; it’s time for punishments that directly impact the industry’s bottom line.

Today's shocking figures will only fuel our fire to make 2024 the year when the tide finally turns on the sewage scandal. A cresting wave of public anger, a general election and water companies setting out their investment plans make this year a now-or-never moment for the campaign to end sewage pollution, and we’re not going to let it pass.

📢We’re calling everyone to join our national day of action on 🚨Saturday 18th May🚨 where surfers, swimmers, anglers, and water lovers of all stripes will stand up in protest against the sewage polluters. This wave of paddle-out protests across the UK will show those in power, in no uncertain terms, we’re sick of your 💩 and you must act to end the sewage scandal now. 📢

UK ELECTRICITY MOSTLY FROM WIND IN 2023
A historic milestone for the U.K. as wind power is the biggest source of electricity from the grid, for the first three months of 2023.

This is despite it being less windy than the year before and is due to the big increase of big wind turbines being installed.

Fantastic resources to help teachers explain marine conservation to kids.

EDUCATING YOUNG MINDS — The way children learn about sharks is about to change forever. Now, for the very first time, an expertly curated education pack on the topic of sharks and shark conservation is available to primary schools for free.

Developed with First News Education, the 56-page Shout Out for Sharks education pack perfectly fits with the National Curriculum and features interactive lesson plans for Key Stage 2 and 3 students. The downloadable pack also includes exclusive interviews with our patron Steve Backshall plus Megan McCubbin and Helen Czerski about their first-hand experiences with sharks.

Steve Backshall said: “This engaging and creative new education pack directly challenges the tired and stereotyped portrayal of sharks. With the fate of the marine world in our hands, I hope it will help create a new generation of students who have a clear understanding of the importance of sharks to life in the oceans as well as life on earth.”

Not many insulated drinks bottle brands can say they have been to the North Pole, but Non Plastic Beach can!

We are supporting a world first electric car expedition from North to South Pole and our bottles are helping keep hot drinks hot!

A huge thank you to Non Plastic Beach for providing eco-friendly supplies for the Pole to Pole EV Expedition! 🌍

Finding sustainable solutions to everyday products is the cornerstone of changing how we live in – and interact with – the environment. Plastic pollution has become a significant concern, particularly within ocean and coastal ecosystems. Any progress we can make in reducing the amount of single-use plastic and plastic packaging is a huge win, and why we are proud to partner with Non Plastic Beach.

Non Plastic Beach commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with our mission to explore the world in a responsible and environmentally conscious way. 🍃

We're proud to have them onboard, helping us reduce our impact on this beautiful planet during our expedition. 🌱💚

Our friends at Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation are nominees for a £5000 charity completion. The voting process is very short and they are a charity that is very efficient with its donations, so £5000 will have a definite impact on conserving this crucial apex predator.

HELP US WIN — This week WRS Insurance Brokers are giving away £5,000 to the 10 most nominated wildlife charities in an online competition. The more nominations we get, the better our chance of a £5,000 prize. Please help 1) click https://tinyurl.com/biteback5k 2) nominate Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation 3) ask everyone you know to do the same! We’ll keep you posted. THANK YOU.
