Cosy reads but make it creepy 👻🍂

If you want autumn atmosphere without going full nightmare fuel, then these four books hit that sweet spot between strange, magical and unsettling.

📚 𝗣𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶
by Susanna Clarke
Quiet, comforting and beautiful, but with that creeping sense that something is very wrong.

📚 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿
by C. S. E. Cooney
Necromancy, ghosts, crumbling houses and black humour. Probably the strongest literal cosy spooky fit.

📚 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲
by Walter Moers
Darkly whimsical, sinister alchemy, strange creatures and lots of humour.

📚 𝗟𝘂𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘁
by Hope Mirrlees
Whimsical old fashioned fantasy with forbidden fairy fruit, strange happenings and an increasingly uncanny atmosphere.

Which one is your vibe? 🌙

𝗢𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 📚

This week I’ve been reading
📖 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘄𝗶𝗴
by B. Catling

Some people have a thing about eyes. Some cannot cope with fingernails. But if teeth make you squirm, this is definitely 𝘕𝘖𝘛 the book to keep you company at night. 🦷

It is short, strange and deeply unsettling, with that creeping sense that something is wrong long before you can quite put your finger on what.

And then there are the teeth.

No spoilers here so I am saying no more. 👀

A wonderfully bizarre little book for anyone who likes their reading strange, dark and slightly uncomfortable.

Ring Ring 📞

Apparently my unread books have staged an intervention. 📚😬

Naturally, the only sensible response is to buy another book.

Go on. Give the TBR something new to complain about. 👀📖

Big, strange fantasy with a mystery buried right at its heart.

Dark, bizarre and unexpectedly funny fantasy that deserves a much bigger audience.

👻 Ghosts, hexes and extremely strange creatures
