DC Cycles is a Southampton based company offering an extensive range of cycle related services to the hampshire area and further afield. We pride ourselves in having a professional but very friendly service, where customers can come to our store, relax on the sofas, talk bikes, have a coffee and generally get a good vibe from the place, making us very approachable, something we believe is not offered from enough companies or has been lost over time. We cater for all aspects and disciplines from Road to MTB, Cyclocross to BMX Racing and currently have 7 bmx team riders invited to represent GB in the world championships in Holland this year.

We won't be at the Hayes BMX event this weekend 😔

This one's a tough post to write.

We pride ourselves on being there for every round of the series.

Missing an event just isn't something we do lightly — reliability is something we've always tried to build our name on.

This week just beat us.

We've spent it trying every angle to get a mechanic or team member sorted, and staffing just hasn't come together in time.

It's not through lack of trying, and it's genuinely not like us.

We know it's properly last-minute, and we're sorry to anyone who was planning to see us there.

This is a one-off for this round — we'll be back on track soon.

Not every build starts as what it ends up as. 👇

This bike started as a DK Sprinter, went through a Supercross phase, and today it left the workshop as a full SYNDYT race bike.

Three builds in one lifetime — and honestly our favourite kind of job.

This weekend, DC Cycles is heading to one of the biggest events in the UK cycling calendar…

⛰️ THE CANNONDALE MALVERNS CLASSIC ⛰️

And we’re seriously proud to be supporting Steel City Rippers with our Shoretrax mobile pump track. 🤘

But this isn’t just about building a track.

It’s about getting kids on bikes.

It’s about that first lap. That first jump. Learning to pump, corner, balance and control a bike. Getting coached by people who know how to make riding FUN. And hopefully creating the next generation of riders who will be shredding trails, racing BMX and MTB, and pushing the sport forward for years to come. ❤️

The Malverns is where so much of British mountain biking comes together — elite racers, families, grassroots riders, legends of the sport and kids discovering the buzz of riding for the very first time.

And we LOVE being part of that.

Your wheels are more important than you think… 👀🏁

The Derby National at the start of the month. This build is a perfect example of why we don't believe in simply bolting a few expensive parts together and calling it a race wheel.

We were asked to build this one around BOX Hex Lab Carbon rims, an Onyx Pro 28H rear and the brand-new Onyx XL Grooved 28H front hub.

And WOW… 🤌🔥

The BOX Hex Lab Carbon gives you an incredible combination of low weight, stiffness and response. At around 299g, you're getting a seriously light carbon rim designed to react when you accelerate, pump and load the bike through the track.

Then there's the Onyx Pro rear.

That patented sprag-clutch system gives effectively continuous engagement, meaning your power gets transferred immediately rather than waiting for conventional pawls to engage.

🚲 WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CHECKED YOUR BRAKE PADS?

It’s one of those little jobs that’s easy to overlook… until your brakes suddenly don’t feel quite right.

Take a look at the two pads in the picture 👀

The top pad is dirty and contaminated with a build-up of grime and braking debris.

The lower pad has been cleaned up, bringing the braking surface back to a much better condition.

A quick inspection and clean can make a noticeable difference to brake feel, braking performance and consistency — and regular maintenance can help you get more life out of your pads too.

⚠️ But cleaning isn't always the answer.
If your pads are worn, contaminated with oil, damaged or simply past their useful life, they should be replaced.

🔧 OUR QUICK BRAKE CHECK

✅ Check pad thickness
✅ Look for contamination or excessive dirt
✅ Check the pad surface for glazing or damage
✅ Check the rotor/disc condition
✅ Make sure the brakes feel strong and consistent
✅ Replace pads when they are worn or contaminated

When a rider want to switch it up after spending years on his current brand he decides he wants to give the Meybo hype a try. So choosing to give this HSX alloy a try.

Needing a new 15mm rear hub to suit the back end and a wheel build later and some other little bits and she ready to roll after being built trackside today!! 🔧🔧

He was amazed that we built a custom XT rear brake for him as well as getting the bike built track side today.
