A message from Gav at Southampton Comics ❤️
Over the past week, I’ve received a huge number of emails and messages asking for donations and support for various charities and community groups. While I genuinely appreciate the incredible work so many organisations do, I wanted to make our position clear.
Southampton Comics has a nominated charity: Give a Gift Southampton.
Give a Gift does something incredibly special. Every Christmas Day, they take gifts to Southampton General Hospital and distribute them to patients who find themselves spending Christmas in hospital rather than at home with their families.
For me, that is a cause worth getting behind.
As a result, Southampton Comics will not be making donations to other charities or fundraising requests. That isn’t because we don’t value the work of other organisations — quite the opposite. It’s because we have chosen a charity that we genuinely believe in, and we want to focus our efforts on making as much of a difference as possible for them.
Last year, together with our amazing community, we raised several hundred pounds for Give a Gift and even helped put on a charity gig to support their work. We’re incredibly proud of what we achieved, and we’re determined to build on that this year.
