One of the hardest parts of this industry is when a client becomes more than just a client.

You build a friendship. You’re there through the highs and the lows. You squeeze them in, stay late, move appointments around, and bend over backwards because you genuinely care.

Then one day you set a boundary. You simply ask for the same respect you’ve always shown them, and suddenly all of the kindness, loyalty and effort you’ve given is forgotten.

It’s heartbreaking when years of going above and beyond are outweighed by one decision not to work for free.

Being a hairstylist is so much more than doing hair. We invest our time, our energy, and often a piece of ourselves into our clients. Boundaries don’t mean we care any less—they simply mean we’re choosing to value ourselves too.

To every stylist who has ever felt guilty for saying “no”… your time, your skills, and your work have value. Never apologise for protecting them. ❤️
