For those local to us and have had trouble reaching us due to the ongoing road works up the top of shirley road . The water company have finally finished after 4 long months so you should have a easier route in to us 🤞. All we need now is the electrical company to turn up 😫 .

Now this is a bit of kit . We have this Bassett Lowke brass O gauge A3 Flying Scotsman for sale . This is track powered , has been tested and is working . Currently unpainted but nice project . For sale £450 ono . Give us a ring if this is of interest, be quick as we expect this to go .

The summer holidays, the sunshine, and the heat seem to have melted everyone... including our footfall! ☀️🥵🚂

Now, don't get us wrong... we love summer! We enjoy welcoming holidaymakers into the shop and seeing lots of new faces. We've got fans keeping the shop cool, and it's often cooler in here than it is at home!😄

This is impacting alot of industries, it did happen last year too, and if we're honest, we'd rather not see a repeat of it. So here's me (Annmarie) being completely honest...

We're not saying we're in trouble – we're not! But it has got us thinking about the future of independent hobby shops. We know times are tough, and when it's this hot it's tempting to do absolutely nothing. But every independent hobby shop relies on people walking through the door, and we'd hate to see any more disappear than we already have in recent years.

Everyone needs a hobby (preferably one involving model railways – after all, they don't complain about the weather!

It doesn't have to cost a fortune either. We have good locomotives starting from just £19.50, coaches for £8 & wagons for £5. Sometimes it's needing is a few bits to finish a project, a pack of scenery, or simply to popping in for a chat and a bit of inspiration.

I guess it really is the motto: Use us or lose us. But it isn't just about us – it's about every independent hobby shop. If we don't support them, one day they simply won't be there.

We're not just here for model railways either! We also stock supplies for arts and crafts, Warhammer, die-cast models, scratch building, and even paints... we've previously sold paint for a bath and for gravestones (yes, those really were customer requests! 😂).

So, if you've been thinking about trying a new hobby, picking up that locomotive you've had your eye on, or finally starting the layout you've been talking about for months... consider this your sign!

Pop in, have a browse, cool off for a while, say hello, and help keep this fantastic hobby thriving.

Theres no getting away from work!
